Well, if you got a CRC on the Patch it's probably because it got corrupted during download, so maybe you just need to download the Patch again and re-install it.
If you re-install it with no error code and still can't run EVE, try uninstall it and install it again, patching it as needed.

I get
"Patching Error in file script\compiled.code. An unknown error has occured. Please try to install this patch again.
If this error persists you might want to try reinstalling the game. Error= error ept0018:"
Any advice? (apart from reinstall, I'd need to download 1.2GB again and I'm on a max download limit of 2GB per month)

Don't you have a main installer that you can patch with all the patches released since that build until today's Patch? I'm not sure, but I guess that could be a way to have the game up and running avoiding the download of the new main installer, saving some download caps...

AzureStorms, that number is "two to the power of thirtyone minus one", the biggest positive integer which can be represented in 32-bits.

* That is assuming you also want to be able to represent negative numbers

Also know as 2 to the 31st power -1; a fairly common number in programming circles.

However the case, my client insists that the server isn't up, and refuses to let me log in.
My skill training finished a while ago and i'm beginning to get rather grumpy...
Edit: Yes, i have patched to 5.11.64451, i have checked with EVEmon (with the same results), and i have restarted my computer, to no avail.

Edited by: Cadde on 02/10/2008 17:53:46 I noticed a bug since 1.1.1 that made it impossible for me to double-click a container to open it. I post in here because it still exist in 1.1.2!
I had to use the right-click menu to open my containers and only recently i figured out what was causing the problem in the first place. I use the special characters provided in EvE (The same type that you can use in windows etc) to sort my containers not only by name but by how frequently i use them so that the most used always end up on top of my other containers and even ontop of all other items in my hangar.
This has now been "nerfed" either silently or unknowingly by the devs in the 1.1.1 path and up. Either way, the UI can no longer select containers that contain such special characters thus also breaking the double click functionality for those containers. (Only coders can really understand anyways)
If you, like me have experienced this bug then all you have to do is rename your container and not use such characters anymore. Only use "A-Z" and "0-9" including "-?=%ñ" chars and the like that are not considered special characters.
EDIT: Oh, and you also have to close the window with the malfunctioning container and re-open it as the EvE GUI have to re-hash the contents!
Here is a list of characters that would break the double click functionality, however they might not display correctly on your system if you are not running eve in the background or if your system operates differently than mine at this time.
☺☻♥♦♣♠ò◘○◙♂♀♪♫☼►◄↕‼¦º▬↨↑↓→←∟↔▲▼ (1 - 32) ⌐¼½+░▒▓│ (Some selections between 169 and 179)
In game, if you select a chat window and press and hold "ALT" and then enter a number in those ranges you will see a special character. Commonly used by the "1337" doods to post ascii art such as "OMG IT'S A TRAP, RUN AWAY!" and others like it.
I don't expect this to be fixed any time SoonÖ but at least put a post it note on some dev forehead so it can be fixed anytime soonÖ.
I have made a bug report already... That will be read in a year or so though right?

Please run logserver and undock your ship from a station then run the cap dry. After you have done that please file a bug report and attach the file from logserver.

I seem to have had an alteration to skill training. Before the 1.1.2 patch I had 1 day and so many hours to finish Industry 5, after the patch it went to 2 days and so many hours.

I play eve under linux using wine. Prior to P 1.1.1 I was able to play eve on one desktop and switch desktops to do other things like surfing. Now when I switch desktops, eve hangs immediately and does not recover. System is intel Quadcore with NV8600, Fed9 with livna nv drivers.

Originally by: wide Post patch, my log in does not see the server, displaying "Checking Status" until finally "Tranquility status unknown". I've tried the firewall (its off), ping test (ping plotter), all normal, no other network issues.
Originally by: Theran Emoner This describes my problem as well.
I'm experiencing the same issue and have been since 1.1.1. Prior to the patches I was a able to connect to EVE without issue.
I am experiencing a couple of symptoms:
1) At client start up server status is 'unknown' 2) Entering a user name and password starts showing the 'authenticating' progress bar but after a few second a pop-up window is displayed stating "Connection Failed. The socket was closed" 3) I can connect to EVE from other PCs on my home network without issue
Following the various Dev suggestions in the forums I have attempted the following actions / investigations to try and resolve the problem. None of these have worked:
1) Uninstalled EVE and installed WAR 1.1.2 from a fresh download. Tried this with both premium and classic editions
2) Turned off AV and AV firewall. Windows firewall not used and h/w firewall has no outbound blocking rules.
3) Tried connecting to the server on both ports 26000 and 3724. Unable to connect on either.
4) Issued the following telnet commands
telnet 87.237.38.200 26000 telnet 87.237.38.200 3724
both times session connected and provided the following output:
*~¦♠♦¦+☻┬-o q= +·p¦@♦├¦LIVE@ccp
5) Ran the pingplotter utility as described. No packet loss or high times reported.
6) I have tried connecting with Proxifier running as suggested in some threads. When running in tunnelling mode I can connect through to the server, so this suggests some incompatibilities with windows, my network and the latest client. Unfortunately this is not a long term solution as I'm not going to pay $40 for the application to run EVE.
When not running in tunnelling mode Proxifier identified some interesting network traffic. The following is Proxifier output during EVE client startup:
[22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 open [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 open [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.38.200:26000 open [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.38.200:26000 close, 246 bytes sent, 46 bytes received [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 open [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 close, 474 bytes sent, 393 bytes received [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 close, 496 bytes sent, 376 bytes received [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.39.199:80 close, 382 bytes sent, 262 bytes received
It looks like the 26000 socket is closed almost immediately. The timing matches an information message in the log server file. When I try and hit the 'connect' button I see the following network traffic through Proxifier:
[22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.38.200:26000 open [22:12] ExeFile.exe - 87.237.38.200:26000 close, 596 bytes sent, 62 bytes received
Agains, this matches another log server file info message. Both log server messages display the following error:
Closing connection to 87.237.38.200:26000: {'reasonCode': None, 'reason': u'The socket was closed', 'exception': error(6, 'winsock error', 'IOCompletionWSARecv failed with error 6: The handle is invalid.\r\n failed with error 6: The handle is invalid.\r\
From the above results I believe that I have no internal firewall / network issues preventing me from connecting to the EVE server as the telnet and pingplotter results are good. My ISP is not giving problems as I can connect to EVE via other computers on the same network.
I suspect that the problem lies in the client code somewhere. There must have been a subtle change in the client that is interacting is an adverse way with further subtle nuances in my network that are preventing the client from connecting.
Petition has not been answered. Bug report has not been addressed. I am at a complete loss how to resolve this.
Anyone any more ideas?
Cheers, Arrs

Can we get some sort of recognition from of this being a problem??? The only thing that's changed on my setup is patch 1.1.2 and while others seem to be having the same issue, it seems to be totally ignored. I've filed a full bug report and a petition without any response or suggestion. FFS, surely getting into the game in the first place is a relatively important issue? |
