Lets say for example that you just been scammed out of all your money, then you meet some pirates and get blown up and podded along with all your implants. Now you only have 12 mil isk left. What would you do ? How would you recover? ______________________________________________ "I¦m not even supposed to be here!", Dante. |

hmm... I would use the money left buy a cruiser and just rebuild back. It also depents on how much you've lost. If it is a lot and will take more than a month to recover, I would just quit the game and send CCP an email ask them to do something about the scame. Let CCP know that scamer just cost them a customer.
PS. I really hate the scammers in general. Wish them all go out and run over by cars. I MEAN CARS!

First of all, hotice is a psychopath. Wishing someone dead because of in-game fraud should be bannable in my opinion (can't be healthy for him to play if he feels this strongly about it).
You will recover. ISK is nothing, what matters is the heap of skillpoints you've accumulated and the experience you've gotten from the game. Making ISK as a noob in this game is hard because you don't know the game yet, when you're a vet you can do it fairly easy...
Hang on there, and in the worst case join a corp which has use for your expertise even though you find yourself skinned

and also scammers.
but think about it scammers if you lost everything that you had in the game then what would you do. ( if you say leave the game then your not worth playing it and letting CCP help you in anyway is a wast of there time cos your just here to make ppls live in the game a misary.

Nelix, Dude, MMOs eat time. I have yet to find an MMO that didn't eat at least as much time as EVE -- Likely more since we can train offline.
Pirates and Scammers are a part of the game. I'm not one myself, but Buyer Beware. If you get duped you can't just have someone kicked out of the game for something that is allowed within the confines of programmed code (and not deemed an exploit by the coders). Social engineering is ever the best way to get what you want/need because some people are gullible. Is it unfair that I get to a station before you because I have afterburners and you don't? Nope. Go buy afterburners. It's the same with scams. If you don't feel 100% about it, don't do it because it could cost you everything. Whether buying equipment to beat me to the station, or avoiding the scam I might fall into, it can all be acquired -- just by different means. Skill: Scam Avoidance
And as NPCs being the only rats....again I reference what's allowed within the confines of (non-exploited) programmed code. No need for throwing people out of the game because they make life hard. I wouldn't wanna play this game if it was easy.

if I was scammed and lost all my money and lost my armageddon to pirates.
hmm, I'd use my backupfund to buy enough high end minerals for another armageddon (you did have a backupfund, didn't you?). then ask my corpmates to help me mine for enough low end so I can build my ship back.
as for the money, well I gained it back before, so It shouldn't be so hard to do it again.
but yea, scammers should be driven over and killed. Pirates are not as bad as scammers, pirates dont say, come I'm your friend, I'll give you icecream if you come here then blow you to bits, if you cross their path they'll kill you, nothing fancy saying they love you and blablabla. just hey there's a prey lets go get it. ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end.

personally i think scams succeed cos of 3 different reasons.
Greed, ignorance or carelessness
I may be forgetting something but what was your reason.

What would I do?
I am not going to get scammed for any large ammount because I am not greedy and not careless (although when I play while drunk...)
As for being down to the last 12 mil isk, I did have a series of disasters which ripped through my funds but I am not going to get upset as it is a game.
What is the point in playing the game if there is not the opportunity for there to be setbacks. Embrace what has happenned and plot your revenge against the scammer.

Right,
12mill is enough. Buy a rax, join a nice corp, mine with em for a wek or two and get em to build you a BS you can pay off by mining in it for a bit more.
then you take that BS to do missions untill you can afford 100% insurance, and then yu go back to 0.0 to make a backup fund by npc'ing. Once you got enough top buy a replacement AND still have it insured, you can go back to getting scammed. _______________________________________________

Use your skills, join a decent Corp, spend time building up, find someone to make you a funny named ship (Hopefully the guy that trained the scammer), kill off all his students one by one including his son, confront him and let vengeance take its course.....

Don't want to smack talk here, but: awwwww diddums.
It's not hard to work out what you need to do, is it?
Not like you start the game with more than 12 million, is it?

Edited by: Mned Graydroggen on 22/06/2004 10:39:02 what to do with 12 mil.
Buy a cruiser outfitt it and do some combat agenting at L3. Make milions a day on bounties alone, adding the mission rewards and possible good loot and implant will get your wallet filled asap, after that its up to your own inventiveness
Or if your a producer. Get your self an indi and a fast frig. Buy one or two bpc and the minerals to build the item. And off you go

I wanted to make a post here since this kinda relates to two things that happened to myself. Just a few days ago someone tried to sell me an Omen (named an Armaggedon), when I asked for an Armag. Luckily, I look before I leap, noticed the picture was wrong as it also showed an Omen when I right clicked it and that it was not repackaged. Lame guy tried to say he was bugged, and that it wouldn't return to him when the deal was canceled, and that I should give him 20M as collatoral. Needless to say I wasn't scammed, and he promptly logged off.
About 7 months ago, I was coming back from Venal, in my only ship left, a Bestower with all my possesions (no isk on me to buy a ship), after having my Maller blown away by PC's in a corp war. Unfortunetly, I was in for a shock as the pirate PC's were fihally dragging themselves out into the woodwork in Venal, and low and behold boom! Ship gone, I'm going home in a pod the rest of the way. Well, I was in a similar position. No isk, nothing. Luckily a kind guy gave me enough to buy a punisher, and I set off again. It was just like starting the game back last May, except I had more skills and points. Today, I'm finally in a BS, able to make a lot of isk when I want to with agents, and am sitting pretty, should I choose to just take care of myself. Luckily I don't mind the repitition of doing agnet missions and mining in .5 and above space constantly, so I was in the clear. If I was in your shoes, I'd buy a cruiser, get lvl 2 missions done (or III if you think the ship can handle it), and do some mining until you've got a BS again. After that, do what you will. You can bounce back, just stay away from .4 or lower space for awhile, and/or find a great corp.

You can handle ALL lvl 2 Combat Missions in a Kestrel if you set it right and know your tactics....the income is easily 2mil+ per day with the loot and bonus's...

You can handle lvl3 kill missions in a nicely setup Thorax as well
8 Heavy Drones, 2 energy (Heavy Beams)& 2 rails (250mm), Tracking Comp 2, damage mods, Shield booster & MWD.
That will see you ok for Rats in 0.5 and lvl 3 missions as long as you keep 30-40KM away from them.
I have not used this setup below 0.5 so cant vouch for it since the new changes.

If you came down to 12 million from nine digits or higher, I would more easily understand your dilemma. If you're willing to risk some ninja mining, 12 million is easily enough for a 1-run BPC of a battleship, and you could probably squeeze in a cruiser after that. Joining a corp is the more popular opinion, but for me personally everything I've joined has actually still been setting itself up for the most part, and making money solo is still faster in some cases. |

I use my Thorax (+8 Heavy drones) with 4x250mm rails and one beam, MWD and Medium shield booster in 0.2 happily. The beam covers nicely any which get close along with your drones and the 250mm's do the damage at around 25-30k away. Hardly ever get down to armor and thats without any tech 2 stuff.
