FaDeTooBlAcK	Posted - 2008.10.06 11:31:00 - [1] Hello all I am looking for a good ship to do Lvl4s with, I am gallante With alot of drone skills cant use OrgeIIs 8 days away, 20 days away from T2 425mm hybrid rails , I have all shield tanking skills at 4 or 5 due to being in a shield tanking Myrm right now . The 17k Shields with a 88.03 recharge time on my current myrm is nice but i have been told that i need to switch to armor , So just looking for advice what BC to move into and what set up to have on it.
Paranon	Posted - 2008.10.06 11:45:00 - [2] Next step up drone-boat wise would be the dominix. Forget about T2 Ogres for missions tho, train your sentry drone skills up asap. Dominix Dual LAR 2 x LAR 4 x Hardeners DCU, and/or CPR, and/or Mag Stabs depending on mission. 2/3 x Omni Directional Tracking Links. 2/3 x Cap Rechargers 0/1 x AB As many 350's as you can fit. (5 is standard with one LAR, 6 with good skillz, perhaps drop to dual 250's with 2 LAR) 1 Drone Link Augmentor Rigs: 1/2 x CCC's 1/2 x Aux Nano Pumps. Later on drop the 2nd LAR, fit 6 350's, with garde 2's does 900+ dps.

Garde 2's with a damage augmentor out damage Ogre 2's, have instant damage, more hp, and with a couple of omnis have no trouble with BS/BC down to ~5km. Cruisers >10km. Frigs >15km. Having said that, if it was a mission I knew had lots of travel time, I may drop my set of Wardens for Ogres, so I can move and kill.

You can make a very effective passive shield tank on a Dominix. Check out some of Pottsey's threads on the subject. Tech II sentry drones are awesome for missions. ------------ Improvize. Adapt. May take a little while longer than ravens but they work and you have the ability to fit salvagers/tractors if you drop your turrets. Relying on drones for DPS is ok, as the domi with decent skills has no problem with any level 4 mission I am currently using a Navy Thron and a hurricane for missioning. Blitz the mission in the Thron and clean up with the Hurricane. Works wonders and one great ISK maker. Regards Red

I think this wsould also work quite well for you as u have shield skills, but yes work on sentry skills a.s.a.p. I present my Sentry Domi 6x 425 Rails proto's best named 1 large shield booster 2 3x shield hards, 2 pri 1x secondary 1x Target Painter PWNAGE 3x PDS 2 3X Mag field Stab 1x co-proc 1..... what a waste i know 2x Sentry damage rigs 5x bouncers 5x ogres 5x hammers spare drones need a pg rig only to make this fit with awu 5 eng 5 and the usuals suspects. and yes, it works, so far had to do 1 warp out on rogue slave trader due to the turret bateries, but tisnt an issue, on missions where things are 50km above they hardly get close enough to hit you.

Focus on your tanking skills initially, then work on your gunnery skills. The drones will accomplish most of the damage. I also encourage you to spend some time with EFT regarding your tank. I haven't tried a shield tank Dominix in practice, but it doesn't as good in EFT. I'll also agree that a passive shield Mrymidon with 1 Invulnerability Field (and Shield Rigs) will tank very good damage. Dave

If your killing a damn sight quicker, u dont need so much of a tank. @ the OP However with that said, this is your first foray into l4's and it would probably be better to be safe. Was just posting a workable setup with your skillset and my new "ooh lets try this" happened to fit your skills (bar the sentry skill). I would never post something I hadnt tried and tested unless stating so...

The Domi is the ultimate AFK mission boat (Ishtar as well, but it isn't any faster in completion time, really, and cost might be prohibitive.) If you're willing to babysit your ship in order to finish a bit faster, then a Raven might be the way to go. Of course, permarunning it means you'll gimp your DPS, in which case you might as well just go with a Domi. But yes, AFK Domis are sweet. And for more DPS just add guns in the highs.
