Hey Guys I just recently got into recons and I have a few questions. I thought that with a covert ops cloaking devise you could jump through a gate and cloak without having to decloak(even for a flash)? If not, how successful can you be while flying through low sec/0.0 in avoiding gate camps and bubbles...they're my only worry in getting this out to 0.0 because it's kinda expensive. All help would be appreciated!
Thanks

You can't cloak while cloaked; you have to uncloak first. What you can do is align/warp to your destination and then hit your CovOps cloak right after that. You'll always flash on the overview for a split second (at least if there's not a ton of lag), but if you're fast enough it won't be long enough for anyone to do anything about it except say 'Oh look, there goes a Force Recon'. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

I've dodged countless gatecamps in my anathema, and she has become my baby over the past few months. It's really nice to be able to haul my entire BPO collection 60 jumps out into 0.0 with no fear whatsoever

Well, in a big enough gatecamp with dictors and whatever, you can still get decloaked by smart pilots while you try to work your way out of the bubble, even with a mwd+cloak trick, it's far from 100% foolproof.

Nothing in EVE is, but this is one of the better things imo

Here is what works for me: Select where I want to wrap to in the overview or right click on the screen either way is fine. With my left hand, have my finger on my cloak button. Mouse click Warp To, count to 1 (this is really important), then click your cloak. With a little practice, your ship should only uncloak for less than a second. When you start uncloaking, it starts at the back of your ship and works forward. On my exploration boat, usually the rocket motors on back are the only thing that every is uncloaked.
Just practice a little in high-sec, it just takes some timing. Just remember, don't click your cloak twice. There is a slight delay before you start cloaking, but if you click it twice because you dont think it is working, you will turn it off, for 5 seconds. Not a good thing if you are in a gate camp.
Hope this helps.

doesn't work too well in a bubble though.
It's quite common to see cloakers trapped in a bubble burst their mwd once and cloak, as it tends to give you a hope to be far enough from your cloaking point when people try to decloak you.
