I cannot fathom why anybody with more than a commodore 64 would ever, EVER want to play a RTS on a console.
Maybe because not everyone is so serious about PLAYING A GAME? |

Would you rather eat your sundae with a spoon or a fork? RTS controls on consoles ruin the experiance.

Honestly I've been dying to see an RTS game spun off that relies on eve. Like eve factions stock planets with supplies and when there are supplies enought to take the planet, it opens up and anyone playing the EVE RTS can click on the planet and attempt to attack or defend it.
End of a few days or so, whichever side has won the most on that map goes on to take the planet, and the result is thrown back up into Eve, allowing the planet owners in eve to make money off it, and those who fought on the winning side in the RTS gain some kind of awards or favors granted by the eve faction from a list of options.
The RTS itself could be anything from smallscale deathBashing in Dawn of War to epic supreme commander, to ace dogfighting, and whoever holds the skies takes the ground automatically.
I'm sure the eve devs are as excited as I am about this option but it remains to be seen if they have the balls to actually take a bet and DO it.

I would want something more like actual EvE. Like, you actually control space, other alliances appear, die, etc.
Based on membership and resources (moons, high end systems, etc) you get ISK which goes towards your fleet stregnth. Hero units are Titian Pilots (expensive) and FCs (much cheaper but gain experience).
When two fleets fight, the victory depends on the FC and composition/size of the fleets. Your max fleet strength would be dependent on your members, and composition depends on how much money you have for fleets and the average SP of your pilots.
It would need a "speed up button" so you can skip the time you're waiting for towers to come out of reinforced/be repped and what not.
It could be a really interesting single player RTS. --------- Your bad loan management perfectly strikes the stock market, wrecking for -777.68 points. Eve job list |

It wasn't at all an RTS, but this thread reminded me of the game, and I always felt that maybe EVE was a little inspired by it.

So awesome.
This game pretty much defines EVE, the bigger blob wins (sure most rts are like this, but the scale here is incredibly close to EVE), and DAMN their are some big blobbs lol. An EVE mod for that wld be *sexy* Awesome EVE history

you must not be playing right if your sins games go that way, its all about the research, get the hp and weapons research up and you can take out huge fleets with fairly small numbers
besides the AI always runs if you bring in an even sized fleet anyway, oh thats a lot like eve too lol

Planetary RTS or other hybrid game form. Yarr. The long-term crazy professor phase of planetary interaction.
Its on the drawing board. Then again only 10% of what's there seems to have ever been developed.

Originally by: CCP Fallout Back in the olden days, when our computers would walk 6 miles in the snow barefoot just to boot up, I used to play this really great game called Universe on my old Atari 800XL. It was pretty much a trade game, where you'd hyperspace from sector to sector trading goods, upgrading your ship and whatnot.
