Edited by: Iva Soreass on 10/10/2008 17:43:44 So i was sitting on my xbox playing Command + Comquer 3 and thought it would be vcool to play a eve rts game.
So CCP has anyone ever approached you to make a rts spin off of eve ? Would it ever be something you would do//consider in the future?
I for one think it would be a great idea, as eve has that kinda Starcraft thing going on already.
Edit : i dunno if this has ever been mentioned before.

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 10/10/2008 17:43:16 It would be fun, but prepare for a fanboi invasion of the thread of epic proportions, calling you names, calling anything that might "divide" their precious EVE "a idiotic idea" and all in all being really naughty people

It should be realistic, though. Some of your units fit their ships terribly and don't follow orders. And then they poast on CAOD, costing you resources.

I'll prove you wrong with a somewhat sensible disagree-argument.. I'm sure the EVE universe would be 'fun' in a RTS, but it wouldn't be EVE. Without the politics, diplomacy and just random asshattery EVE isn't EVE. And a RTS would severaly lack all those aspects, so in that essence, it'd be a 'sellout'.
Personally would love to see CCP making more games with some unique things that EVE excel at, and make it different from other MMO's. Which is exactly the stuff I mentioned above. Politics, economy, the skilltraining system, the sandbox..
No need to go ballistic towards the OP for such a thing, but no, it doesn't suit EVE tbh.

Alot of it is already in place, each race has its own back story, each race with its own unique ships (classes). So makeing campaigns for them would//should just be a formality.

There was a Homeworld 2 mod being made, but I haven't seen any changes or updates since earlier this year. I hope the team is still working. I know a great many HW fans were looking forward to that. |

RTS EVE i think would be epic fail.
Speaking of RTS, Starcraft rules this world and anything beyond this is left in the dust anyways. |

The EVE RTS will come out when CCP releases the ground gameplay for EVE. That will make EVE the ultimate game with 3 different types of gameplay to choose from. Spaceships for the space game, avatar control for in station/on certain planets and RTS gameplay for taking over/managing planets.
I'll never need to play another game again. |

Edited by: Webster Carr on 10/10/2008 18:44:39 I always thought it would be cool to integrate this into eve: being able to have all those militants and marines taking up space in my hangar actually do a combat drop on a planet or station. :) With me sitting in my command ship in orbit directing the action (and providing the occasional bombardment...)

Actually CCP supported the mod and gave the creaters the thumbs up on it. Haven't heard of it in a long time though. _______________

Actually CCP supported the mod and gave the creaters the thumbs up on it. Haven't heard of it in a long time though. Normal operating procedure for the Relic modders. One of two things will happen; You will never hear anything until the release or you will never hear anything period. Sorry but was a part of many a Homeworld mod and thats just the way it goes. However if it is ever released you can be sure it will be of professional quality and probably exceed the for profit industry norm.
Btw the sins new(ish) beta patch is looking very nice so far. Love that game.

Back in the olden days, when our computers would walk 6 miles in the snow barefoot just to boot up, I used to play this really great game called Universe on my old Atari 800XL. It was revolutionary for the time (and not just because it was on several diskettes). It was pretty much a trade game, where you'd hyperspace from sector to sector trading goods, upgrading your ship and whatnot.
It wasn't at all an RTS, but this thread reminded me of the game, and I always felt that maybe EVE was a little inspired by it.
