i rmember a while back some of my old corps mates telling me about a program you can get to run with eve, it is supposed to help you keep track of your skill training? or maybe when you complete a kill, it automatically starts training the skill you have selected next?
or is this nothing? |

I have only heard of EVEMON but it doesn't automatically change skills. And recently CCP warned of such programs saying the have viruses. |

EVEMON will help you plan your skills while offline, and figure out how long stuff will take to train, but there's nothing that will interface with EVE and change your skills for you (that's against the EULA).
One of the CSM topics did talk a while back about options for auto-changing skills. They brought it to CCP's attention and CCP said they'd consider implementing something... maybe. Search the CSM forum for details.
For EVEMON, google it or search the forums here for it. |

The reason CCP don't want to create a skill queue for you in game and force you to login to change skills is to gimp character farming.
Personally I am fine with this even if it is a bit of a pain.
EVEMON is a great program for planning skills but does not change them for you.

CCP's logic being that signing on for literally 30 seconds to change skills every once in awhile somehow counts as playing the game, if you just intend to sell the character off. Personally I think a queue is overdue in a major way.

Your logging on for 30 seconds to change a skill means you log on hundreds of times over the time it takes to build up your character, thus establishing a pattern of IP addresses for said account. If you then sell the character for ISK using the approved transfer method, so be it, but if that account suddenly changes IP addresses... you know.

i dont mind logging in for a minute to switch them myself. i do it every morning before i come to work anyway. _____________________ *warp drive acti...wait, where are we going?*

Lucky for me when I travel and log in with vastly different IP's I'm not perma-banned
If your account suddenly changes IP it will be fine, and since you can only sell characters with a valid credit card...the issue is what exactly?
Thanks for the Maulus BPO nerf! :D |

That which creates the real need for a skill queue isn't the short skillz that takes 1-90 minutes to train, nor the long skillz that takes 36+ hours to train, but rather those that are in-between, the medium length skillz.
Right now I'm struggling with half a dozen skillz that takes 6-8 hours to train to the next level, which is really, truly, deeply annoying. That's what a one-skill skill queue is for. To polish off one of these skillz and then automatically switching to training a long skill. Then the next day you log on again and do it once more, set a medium-length skill then a long skill in the queue (usually the same as before).
Makes the game much more bearable.
