Incarna came and riots followed. Then Cruible came and CCP was redeemed. For a period of time i would say that the eve member base was the happiest it had been in a long(tm) time.
And now it seems that it isnt CCP that has the member base all worked up. But one single drunk person giving a player presentation. Lets be fair- most of eve doesnt like goons. If i had to think of all the things a certain famous TEST guy says when he's drunk... we might be here awhile. The hatred from goons stems from many of us being successfully scammed at one point in time.... and that makes us feel stupid. It happened to me when i was noob way back when. And it happens to others every day. At least half of the member base are noobs. No offense, but it is true.
I am a bitter vet, and im not a fan of goons. I have never been a goon, nor do i intend to. But i do respect mittens. I think CCPs rash decisions on this matter is because of their concern over Dust 514. If it was only the EVE players, and SONY wasn't involved- i doubt any of this would have happened. Whether we like him or not- he is one of the few people that keeps CCP from going carebear. Do you remember who led the charge against Incarna? It wasnt Shado.
Yes, mittens did something stupid. But he did own up to it- which is much more than many other people can say. In the military we have a saying "If you **** up and immediately admit to it, we wont **** you up". Too bad CCP doesnt share this same line of thought. I dont remember Mittens apologizing to anything. So for him to be sincere about this and still be railed on annoys me.
