I always say station. it's easier that way.
The two things that annoy me on forums are people that use upper and lowercase characters in the same word. Reading what they have posted is amazingly annoying and usually pointless and when people truncate words by dropping a single letter. Is it that hard to type the extra character?
for example
I FiNk My OpInIon Is DeD GuD

Edited by: Atandros on 25/06/2004 16:09:16 What annoys me most, besides the idiotic your/you're and there/their, is lack of punctuation. No commas, no periods, just an eye-raping block of solid text.
And, NB: There's a difference between typos (which everyone makes occasionally, especially when typing in a hurry) and bad spelling/grammar, which can make communication quite difficult. It's not an aesthetic thing, it's conveying information clearly.

Edited by: Firebyrd on 25/06/2004 16:40:19 Edited by: Firebyrd on 25/06/2004 16:39:59 American english id my only language, but if u want to get technical sign language is my second....But...
Mis spelling of words dont bother me much in fact a couple of my Eve friends, 1 hear in america, the other over seas, dont type in good english, we joke about it, and laugh about some of the words that get misspelled, i think its funny, maybe cause i dont take the game seriously as some of u others, most spell words as they sound, which is finr with me....
i just tell those i have to read a couple times to get the sense of what they r saying is "Let me pull out my universal translater for a second"..
when u have people from different languages and cultures, and different backgrounds, they r not bad spellers, they r spelling as it sounds, we all do that, not 1 person here can say they dont abbrevite, or even if they arnt sure of the spell, type it as it sounds....
or do u have a spelling dictionary right by ur side... if u do then its not lag that makes u slow in respnding, its accually u looking up a word....lol ----------------------------------------------- In the End , there can be only 1
Today we celebrate, for tomorrow we die

Actually its probably mostly english speaking people who make this mistake since it is pronouced hanger in english. Germans write Hangar, and pronounce it Hangar.Probably french and alot others, too. |

excellent catch there! in my defence, i do not complain about anyones spelling initially- i wholeheartedly embrace spelling errors;) however i will counter-complain about other people complaining about peoples spelling.
you are counter-counter-complaining about my spelling as i counter-complain about another person complaining about spelling.
...now i really look r3diculous;)

while we're talking about spelling pet peeves, mine is when someone spells whiner as whinger. What makes it even worse is I have seen it spelled both ways in the same post.

It used to be spelt as "hanger" in-game. It annoyed me for the longest time, until they finally changed it.
It's a common error, yet basic.

Yeah, there are so many spelling mistakes in the item descriptions, makes you wonder if they ever checked them. And I don't mean typos, I mean bad mistakes. |
