Here is the summary of the argument:
Pro the change (kill ghost training): - very few people hold this position, many of them seem to not notice that those complaining have multiple accounts, and the main argument is "why get something for free"? Also, these people are obviously die-hards, and won't be quitting the game. They have been playing this game with ghost-training the whole time, and haven't quit yet.
Against the change (keep ghost training): - very many people are angry about this change. Many of these people have multiple accounts, and they don't keep all of them active all the time. These people represent a decent part of your revenue stream, running multiple accounts - a practice which you push with things such as your "power of two" promotions, among others. As has been mentioned, allowing a skill to train while unsubbed gives a lot of players a reason to come back to this game.
Ultimately, this will cause a lot of players to quit playing the game, or to dump a lot of their alt accounts. Where you had revenue before, you will have less or none. And you won't get people coming into the game because of "wow, what a great change" to make up for it.
When you have a stable dynamic such as ghost training, which is a "perk" of playing the game, and then you remove it, you will make some players angry enough that they will just quit playing outright. Lost revenue.
Also, as people can generally only manage a few accounts at once, but may be paying for a few more than that, you will see account consolidation or just accounts being dropped. You have built this game in such a way that it isn't easy to explore a lot of the high-end options: 1 pilot training per account and no skill queue. The fact that we could lapse an innactive account made sense for the way that you setup the training in the first place.
In summary, any perceived benefit you may be getting (making the "fair-play" crowd happy, getting players to pay more money) is going to be quite offset by the cost (losing alt accounts, losing players, not getting unsubbed players back).
Reconsider the change please.
