So, I'm in my hulk, mining like crazy.. now what?
I'm not interested in combat, and I want to stick to industrial stuff. Anything after the Hulk to look forward too?

Hulk's pretty much the end of the line for mining progression, as far as ships go. You can train skills to maximize your results though, to fit better and more expensive mining laser upgrades, mining implants, etc. I guess you could say far down the road would be a freighter, jump freighter, or even rorqual. But those really aren't intended for solo use, and the rorqual can't even enter highsec.
You could always start exploring manufacturing, research, and trade as well. Those are definitely on the industrial side. Hopefully with the next industrial-themed expansion in winter us miners will get some more love. |

Second account, second cargo-expanded Hulk, and try to get some leadership skills on one of them. Third account, third cargo-expanded Hulk. Fourth account, fourth cargo-expanded Hulk. Fifth account, max-cargo-expanded Iteron V (or soon, maybe, Orca), switch Hulks to mining upgrades instead. Sixth account, Mining Foreman mindlinked commander running the cycle time link (optionally, others too).
No, seriously, that's IT. Sucks, doesn't it ?

I find that an max-cargo-expanded Impel does the job much better.
And to the OP, yep you have reached a dead end. When I decided to make a mining mule I was shocked by two things. 1. how few skills you needed 2. how few of those skills were useful for other professions.

As someone who has one, I'd suggest the Rorqual. They are far superior to the JF or normal Freighter for moving ore - moving it around in empire might be a little more tricky however ;)
But the Rorqaul training will cover Orca as well when it comes out - so Orca for empire/Rorqual for Low-sec/0.0 ;)

Start doing some invention and manufacturing! Especially if you still want to do mining this will be a great way to make a better profit from your minerals.
No... Wait... Don't then there will be more competition and less profit for me! ;-)
Oh, and as suggested, join a industrial corp!

like said before better profit you could always go out and see in materiels section in channels and mailing systems and see if any corps are looking for ore. talk with a few of them you mine the minerals they need and they pay you for it

Can someone explain to me why people still think this? a Dev posted on the orca thread that it is a mini frieghter. What this means, for those who cannot understand it, is that it is not a rorq, or really even a mini rorq, but a smaller version of a frieghter that is supposed to fill the gap between hauler and frieghter. i am fairly certain that driving a frieghter requires industrial 5 and frieghter skill, so you would be better off thinking of it the way the devs have declared it will be, a mini frieghter. They have not said anything about it having a leadership bonus, that is speculation at this point, doesnt mean it wont, but we do know for certain it is a mini frieghter thus far.

No guarantee for the Orca.
best guess for that ship will be transports as a base since part of the intended function is as a mini-freight |

Nowhere did CCP say that the Orca was going to be JUST a mini-freighter. They said that it would fill the gap between the industrials and Freighters. They never said that was all it would do. It is still very likely that it will include Mining Foreman Link Bonuses, and perhaps some other mining-op related abilities (like the large tractors, possibly a survey scanner bonus).... None of these have been ruled out be CCP.

This is exactly what I did. I trained for exploration and now can find belts to mine in hi-sec that have lo-sec ore. Exploration dovetails quite nicely with mining.
As others have said, you can also start training up to do missions. Once you are able to do Lvl 4's, the isk can start to roll in.
I generally do all three - mining, exploration, and missions. When I get bored doing one, I switch to one of the others.
Manufacturing is also a good route to take. Mine your own minerals and make your own ships and modules.

And an awful lot of good that does you... since lowsec ore is hardly worth (much) more than Veldspar/Pyroxeres/Scordite to begin with.

The real advantage to mining in exploration or mission belts, is the roid sizes. They are usually larger than what you'll find in the system belts (especially in empire), it's quieter, and the rats spawn more frequently, and are usually a little bigger (more bounty/loot)

Start making stuff with all those minerals. Heck, start a corp and hire a team of miners.

Before you guys get all butthurt over the Orca, keep in mind that there is only 1 ship being planned, that being, the Orca.
Therefore, it will be an ORE ship, not a ship of one of the empires since for fairness sake, they would be adding 4, not 1.
As we have seen with other ORE ships, it is very likely to have a mining application even though it may serve as a mini freighter also. sXe |

the rorq...
CCP have stated a number of times they are happy with the amount(yeild) you can get solo mining in the hulk, and any increase would break the economy, i.e. reduce mineral costs further, meaning you earn roughly the same, but now you can build and kill ships to get an insurance payout and make isk.

Hemorphite and Hedbergite aren't bad. I agree that jaspet is crap tho. You can find lots of big, tasty kernite roids too. It certainly beats scrounging around normal belts in the hope of finding little roids that others can't be arsed to mine.

Why? Maxed out the Itty 5 outhauls the Impel. If cost is a problem then the itty 5 being cheaper is probably still the best bet. Impel is tougher but tbh if your max-expanded hauler is getting shot at u did something wrong somewhere anyway.

hulk is the top ship. it is the mining titan.
get t2 crystals and t2 mining drones with di 5. then get the 3% implant (5% if you are rich)
that is the end of the line for solo mining. in 0.0 i am training a leadership alt. max bonuses without a rorq are 15% yeild and 27% cycle time reduction but it has the added benefit of permatanking so that i can fit the hulk for maximum yeild instead of tanking. i want a drone miner to come out but not holding my breath.
