This is so weak. I spend an hour scanning a site down, I bookmark it. Then I have to warp to station to refit and the site despawns instantly. As if us explorers did not have it tough enough as it is. Does this mean it is impossible to scan sites down without dual boxing?

A site will only despawn if you have hit the trigger, which is usually killing the last NPC, hacking a can etc. Otherwise it stays 3 downtimes. YARR! |

This cant be entirely true. A week ago, I scanned down a radar site, warped in in my pod and bookmarked it. I came back the next day to complete it and the site was gone.

And you are 100% no one else found it in that time?

I'd actually put my money on someone else finding it. The last two hidden asteroid belts I scanned down, I had visitors drop in while I was mining them out. In one case it was very small and the explorer moved on, but the other was huge and a hulk showed up and started mining it. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Well, no I am not. You are right, maybe this happened.

"This cant be entirely true. A week ago, I scanned down a radar site, warped in in my pod and bookmarked it. I came back the next day to complete it and the site was gone."
I like how whenever you talk about exploration someone comes out and basically calls you a liar.
I found the site in my helios, cleared out the rats in my nemesis. Then I docked in system, waited the minimum time and undocked in my helios to analyze the cans. There were roughly 15 spawn containers there and I was gone less than 40 seconds, and local was empty.

In your case, the trigger was apparently an NPC.

Correct. It can also be simply interacting with anything. generally you should never warp out of a site unless someone else is in it or you absolutely must. Oh and also, hack in your combat ship. Passive tanked drake can do without the last midslot.

Some of us have done this whole exploration thing more than once and do know what we are talking about. |
