They would only have told CCP to start reinforcing the Jita-node, and not to tell the players why. This way, nobody would see it coming. Instead, we all know what's going to happen, and we'll get plenty of time to prepare, either by flying away, or by stocking up on ships to sell during the event. Who knows, maybe if you goons hadn't talked about it publicly, it might've been a surprise attack.
