Has anyone else had drones returning (at least partially) to their bad old habits?
Recently I've found that the "return to drone bay" command leaves one or two drones orbiting like lunatics around my ship just beyond scooping range and with apparently no intention of returning to the drone bay under their own steam.
Whilst this is not the end of the world (I have to tell then to go attack something and then recall them to get them to dock up) it is annoying, especially if the reason for the drone recall is that they are getting the $%#& blown out of them, the delay can mean life or death for the disobedient little critters.
I was just wondering if this was something systemic that had crept back in to Eve?

Have had some troubles with fighters returning but could've been a hint of lag as well.

Yeah, I've had that happen to me a few times.
I've also had diabolical sentries for the last few days... they're on Passive, I set them to Assist corp mate, they "work" until the ship he was attacking gets blown, then they go completely crazy, attacking different targets randomly when the Assisted player hasn't even started shooting.
I recall/scoop them, send them back out, and without giving them any orders (and still set to Passive), again they start shooting whatever they want.
Almost got my ass killed in Assault L4 'cause they triggered spawn WAY too early.
Wasn't like that ~2 weeks ago...

Or you could give them "Return and orbit" order. :P

I'm also having problems. Every single time I want to use drones (every new mission) my drone settings get changed to default and I need to change the setting. Quite annoying to do that every single time (specially because I'm doing lvl3 missions fast for standing). Also they don't return as they should and other oddities. Focus fire is completely messed up. Focus fire is on and they still go after different targets.
My ogres are completely out of whack. They deal like 1/5th damage of my Hammerheads even when the target is a BS size vessel. Haven't lost any T2's in a while, but this week I've lost 3-batches due to not returning and so on.

Your not alone, I've noticed Rabid Drones. It's exactly like they have rabies - dumb stage, then attack stage.
It was with one of the recent patches too, It's only been the past couple of weeks I've been noticing it as another poster mentioned.

Same. Yeah. Last week or two I've occasionally seen them pull this wierd stunt where they don't return to the drone bay as ordered, but instead orbit you at full speed ignoring scoop/return commands. Like the OP, only way I've found to get them out of their rut is to order them to attack something and then reissue the return command. Quite pesky, especially when they're being shot as, as mentioned.
As with most drone bugs, it's not the end of the world, but they always get on your nerve.... ------ "Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he'll have to touch to be sure." |

happens to me now and then too :(
also another thing happening occasionally is that i order the drones to return they MWD to me and continue about 5km to far then suddenly they go 'abandoned' and i have no control over them and need to fly to them and scoop them
both the above has made me more or less spend more on replacing drones for pve than pvp now -sig-

AYe, I too have had some annoying problems with Warrior II's. Hobgob's seem fine as do med and large drones, but those bleedin' Warriors craze my hoop. They eventually get back in, but not for quite some time. I've even had to jet and leave a couple.

I havent had any problems with drones doing their own thing too much. Although i've noticed a few times that enemy ships are suddenly stopping targetting me completely and then blowing up my drones which is rather annoying as heavies take too damned long to return to sort the aggro out.

Now and then. Usually able to pull them back by ordering them to attack and then send return command again, sometimes have to do it 3-4 times, but at times it's enough time for them to be shot down.
Usually this return issue is provoked when they are being attacked after I have called them back.
