I was wondering what other benifit comes from having positive Security status other than being able to acess all solar systems of empire space. Is there a reason it goes above 1?

not really.
It can be used as a guide as to friendlyness of the person, but sec status doesnt take into account 0.0 piracy
It is most useful for the negative side of it. if you are in low sec and a char with a heavily negative sec status comes in chances are they are going to be trouble.

If you're at +5, you can suicide-gank or pirate for a while before you need to worry about it being too low for you to re-enter high sec systems.
Also, if you're at +5 and a pirate attacks you, he loses more security for the attack than if he'd attacked a -2 player, although that is in no way a deterrent to most pirates (they don't really care), and certainly not worth spending months grinding it up.

The above quote comes from one who is much more vastly experianced in this game then I. But, I will say that if you are in low sec do not, and I mean do not, trust that a pilot is friendly just because they have a high security status. Pilots with high security status can be just as ruthless as - security pilots. So if you see negative be very wary and if you see a pilot that is + sec status assume it is a pirate that just finished ratting his sec status back up

Oh, there is one bonus to having positive sec.: people cannot put bounties on you. Not that the bounty system works (it doesn't really), and you can always have a buddy kill you to collect the bounty (and then share it), but still, no price on your head.

Higher sec status will increase the sec status hits of people who attack you. (assuming they get a hit)
