I am considering getting a Carrier soon, namely the Gallente version. I have been considering setups for a while. What do you guys think to this setup?
[General use]
Highs; Capital remote armour repairer, Cap remote shield booster, Cap remote hull repairer and 2 drone control units.
Meds; Sensor booster t2 lock time script. Magnetometric eccm t2. 3 cap rechargers t2.
Lows; Cap armour repairer, Omnitank faction/t2, Dcu t2.
Rigs; ccc t1 x3.
Drones; Fighters, as many as I can fit, except 1, which I will leave out for t2 of all types I can get in the 5000Śm left.
Ideas? It is general use, obviously I will tune it for specific jobs as and when needed...
Best Regards. Yes I am an alt, don't ask me to post with my main. |

Edited by: Larkonis Trassler on 18/10/2008 10:26:05 ITT Fail carriers LOL at cap Remote Hull rep. And don't fit Drone control units. Ever.
High 1-2 Cap Armour RR 0-2 Cap Shield RR 1-2 Heavy Neut (Faction Prefered) 1-2 Smartbombs (DG/SS are nice and cheap)
Meds 3-4 Cap Recharger 0-1 Point 0-1 ECCM 0-1 Sensor Booster
Lows 1-2 Cap Armour Reps (Depending on other Cap Support that's with you, you can get a nice little spider tank on the go) 2-3 Amarr Navy EANM (with all comp skills at 5 Resists are better than the old 3 hards plus DCU 2 if you fit 3 of these) 1 Damage Control II 0-2 CPR II
Rigs 3 CCC I
Mix and match depending on role etc. Enjoy. Calm Your Passion |

I'd just like to note that I've never flown capital ships and won't do for a long time and even I winced when I saw that setup

Don't. Your proposed setup was so poor that it's clear you aren't experienced enough to fly carrier. You do realize that you will be limited to flying in low-sec and 0.0, right?
All I see is a LoL killmail in your future, on your losses tab.

Ok, fair enough, I have only flown dreads in the past and they are all about damage.
That may go a little way to explain about the thoughts I had. I agree with some points that certain mods may not be the best course on this, however, my thoughts were to take the logistics role to the limits, basically small gang support or such. If you see where I am coming from...
Don't flame if you can help it. They guy who winced, fine, wince away, all good fun. Until you realise I was just asking for tips or criticisms...
Thanks for those that were capable of answering properly. You have convinced me that Eve is not full of whining morons... Yes I am an alt, don't ask me to post with my main. |

Your fit (especially the high and in some cases mid slots) will vary greatly depending on what you are using it for at that moment. You will have alot of spare modules for your carrier (though I'd suggest avoiding Drone Control Units in any situation) and will switch them out often based on what you need to do (and remember if you have another carrier with you, you can use each others ship maint bays to refit in space)
A combat fit will feature neuts and smartbombs, and probably a capital remote armor rep, or 2 if you will be with other carriers. If you're the only one and are going to be repping BSes, you can use 1 shield and 1 armor rep as needed. And cloaks are good for travel fits.
Sensor boosters/ECCM are definitely worthwhile if you're one of the only carriers on field to rep and you're going up against alot of ECM ships. SB just to lock targets faster and ECCM to reduce the chance of getting jammed. If you're in a position where you're going to be the only carrier and it's highly unlikely you'll get hotdropped, then you may want to think about triage mode, saves you from having to worry about SB/ECCM.
For POS repping you bring either shield (to rep tower itself when it's out of reinforced) or you bring hull/armor (to rep modules that were incap'd during the siege). Generally you rep the mods a day/ half a day before the pos itself comes out, you'll have plenty of time to rep modules and then refit before yuo need to rep shields. How to Fail at Eve
