UK right? If so, for an 18 year old, I think it's about 12k per annum. |

It depends entirely on how many hours you work per week, and your tax code, which I'm unsure of in your case.
If you're in a dayshift job, full time, the UK standard is a 39 hour week.
4.77*39=186.03 (multiplied by 52 weeks in the year) 186.03*52=9673.56 PA.
9673.56 PA
Bear in mind that you need to factor in tax as well, plus and deductions for a pension if you've taken one on.
If you're working shifts, it differs as your company may pay a percentage on top of your basic rate as shift premium for working unsociable hours depending on your contract of employment. Most companies do, but some just raise your basic rate PA to include the premium spread out equally over the year.
If they do this, they just pay you the same salary 12 times a year for monthly pay, or 52 for weekly.
Hope this helps.

Still assuming you're in Britain - even if you were willing to work for less than the ú9k-odd or whatever it works out to, you still would be paid that as a minimum. It's illegal to pay less. ________________________________________________

(52 weeks * 5 days a week - 20 to 35 days free vacation or holidays) * 8 hours a day = 1800 to 1920 hours a year. If minimum is 4.77 an hour, that's 8586-9158 a year.

Depends on age, there's three different minimum wages.

Ah yes wikipedia...
Quote: The current minimum wage in the UK (set October 2008) for adults aged 22 or older is ú5.73 per hour. For workers between the ages of 18 and 21 the minimum wage is ú4.77 per hour. The minimum hourly wage for all workers under the age of 18 (who are, in addition, no longer of compulsory school age) is ú3.53. There is no minimum wage for those still of compulsory school age.

Welcome to the RL Grind
You can look forward to many years of cleaning filthy toilets, no appreciation for any hard work or vollenteering your free time to help out anyone... oh and lousy wages for ever that are repeated ****d by the HMG taxman.
The only thing that will light your dismal life is the chance of chatting up some honeys that completly ignore you and put u down, cos your the spotty oik thats serving them...
oh and the working paid hours are 37.5 (though you will be expected to work over 40+ per week - without pay or thanks) look forward to about ú150 per week salery at slave starting wage, expect about ú7800per year.
Your mission(no time limit) is to get a job making more than 20K, though unless you wanna go do a Low-standing agents dodgy mission such as 'the bank job' or start dealing in dodgy goods or pharmacuticuls you don't really have much chance.
Don't forget getting caught by the RL-CONCORD will result in Ship loss / severe POD damage and heavy standings penalties with the prospect of long duration flight grounding in -10 hostile outposts. Ambulation there is not recomended, as such bases are populated by hostile units where fatal interaction is possible(in-station clone kills are allowed). (clone bay MED+ facilities are not available in such stations, so beware!).

Holiday pay is pretty much a given in the UK, even for jobs on the minimum wage.

If I'm right thats a little less than waiter/waitress in the states (not including tips).
I think minimum wage for us is either 5.25 or 6.10 (excluding the above mentioned)

I would recommend bus driving to anyone. Now that I've been with my company for more than a year, I'm on ú10.40 per hour. All I have to do is turn up, and drive a bus around town all day. It's fun, and I get paid for it - not sure how that works!

and I assume if you're self employed the minimum is whatever you can manage to get people to pay you? Or do they have to pay you at least ú4.77p? ~~~~ There is no parody in this thread. Honest. |

Yeesh. Being from the US has it's drawbacks (namely the entire rest of the planet hates you and considers you to be inbred), but $12 USD an hour jobs are relatively common here. Not sure about the cost of living difference, however.
Even at 10/hr you'd be hard-pressed to afford a bachelor pad and a rather sorry vehicle in this area, and I've no idea how people survive here on minimum ($6.55 USD). Is it different in the UK?
