Chaining shouldn't get you faction spawns, unless you mess up and kill everything in the chained spawn.
There's no real way to increase chances; just keep slaughtering everything without bothering to chain. ___

Its been awhile, but I thought chaining rats made faction spawns very unlikely... Either you get consistant bounties, or a big payoff every so often, you don't get both... could be wrong ç¦ |

When you clear the belt of all spawns (IE: not chaining) a new spawn will spawn. This gives a chance for a faction spawn, where as chaining does not because you are forcing the same thing to spawn each time. I may be wrong, but that is how I understand it.

This is true. If, however, you are pruning before chaining, you do increase your odds of getting a faction spawn. ------------

I am looking for a good 0.0 corp/alliance. Convo if interested. |

Isn't it true, too, that all 0.0 NPC sov systems have a trusec of -1.0, increasing the chance of better spawns. I don't know if this applies to Faction/officer spawns, but I've heard of people patrolling these areas with good results.

No, you are wrong. Chaining does NOT effect the chance of a faction spawn. proven fact by numerous players. Been there, done that, got the effin t-shit and dogtags

Best chance is to go to a better true sec rated system.

Edited by: Doddy on 20/10/2008 01:31:29 Just kill everything.
The system sec status doesnt matter for chance of faction spawn, just for how good the spawn is (i.e you wont get a top end faction bs in systems you dont get the equivelent non faction bs). The best run of faction spawns i ever had was mucking about with a noob char in hi sec, got 3 faction frigs in 25 mins of which 2 dropped low grade implants (talisman unfortunately) meanwhile my main went months without seeing one ratting in a -1.0 system.
Chaining obviously decreases your chances as there are less respawns, but to be honest just chaining the best spawns and killing everything else sees u get good isk/hr and have regular faction spawns.
Everything that applys to faction spawns also applies to hauler spawns. Officer spawns are much rarer and only available in npc 0.0 and non npc 0.0 with a tru-sec of -9.0 or better (or so i am told and so far it holds true for me).

There is a -1.0 modifier to sec in npc pirate (not other npc factions like thukker etc) home constelations for the purposes of ratting (and maybe exploration, not sure, certainly not mining tho lol)

Every time server does _new_ spawn there is a chance of getting faction/officer. New spawn are generated when entire spawn in belt or at the gate is killed (new spawn can appear in same belt/gate or in some other belt/gate; I've seen some spawns at planets but I guess those were some weird bugs), or if some other event "kills" all rats in belts and server has to respawn them. One such event is daily downtime. So get in a fast ship, fly through as many belts as you can right after DT and you should get some faction spawns. I ussualy get about 3 faction spawns per DT, depending if there are others doing the same.

Ok i understand all of this, but... Does the same rules of chaining apply to the faction spawns as well. I mean if you kill de BS's of a faction spawn will a faction spawn appear the next time or just a normal spawn?
