The US, is no longer what it used to be... much of the freedom it once had, is now restricted with draconic laws....
Just one off the top of my head is the DMCA (the new law regarding software piracy)...
Although here are still some basic rights that I like.. such as easy access to weapons, the legal right to kill trespassers on your land, stuff most EU countries don't have :(
To the guy who asked who is American.. well I think there are like 500mil definitions :P Everyone defines it different.. for one its freedom to do x, the other is the economic opportunities etc. So, its only the passport that defines the ppl.. that's why nobody cares really...

Fifty years ago, America was an absolutely different country. The America you see in war films is not that way today.
The "America" you see in 50 years old films is also not what it was then.
In December 1955, on the heels of the Baton Rouge bus boycott and the Brown decision, Rosa Parks, a 43-year-old black seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama, was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man in defiance of local Jim Crow lawsùigniting the modern civil rights movement. E. D. Nixon, the highly respected black labor leader who had organized the Black Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters Union in Montgomery, bailed Parks out of jail and gained her consent to use her case to challenge Jim Crow.
In February 1956, the MIA filed suit in the U.S. District Court challenging the legality of segregated buses. Shortly thereafter, King and some 90 other activists were arrested for conspiring to organize a boycott. KingÆs trial made national news and exposed the ugly face of Jim Crow transportation. In June 1956, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the MIA.

The USA are a huge country and it still has some self-healing powers left, although it depends very much on the judicial system whether they will be effective - and that has been perverted also, look at the RIAA lawsuits, the anti-terrorism legislation including secret laws ... We'll see.

You have absolutely no powerblocs, even the french ffs have marginalised you and have claimed space in the name of france.
Are we to live in an eve universe where power is e-bayed between jake nobles AAA and his scandinavian / euro BOB power sharing extavaganza ?
Are americans happy to play second/third fidddle to this ???
Before you post and before you x up in these russian/north euro fleets, go check your identity and think if you're happy to trade the stars and stripes for a sickle and a frozen scythe...

What you fail to realise is that the judiciary has no power. Can the judiciary order the army to step in and remove the dictator in power? How many times has the judiciary ruled that Guantanamo Bay should be closed and all prisoners released? You are talking as if the US is a democracy in which freedom actually matters.
Now I'm waiting for those who don't know the meaning of republic to spam that the US is not a democracy but a republic. Farjung is my God

IKEA kicks ass - it's one of the few stores that you can legitimately take a date to and have a great time not buying anything.
As for why why there are no "American Powerblocks" - I would guess that there is a real cultural reason. America stresses individualism and being a major player in a Power block requires the individuals to work towards a collective goal - not exactly something Americans are known for. ------------------------------------------------ There are only two types of ships: those which have blown up; and those which will.

Most of the organized American "groups" of gamers I have come across play fantasy games. All of the "power gamers" as well. The ones that play for 8+ hours a day. It just isnt my bag. Shadowbane, DAOC Wow, and most recently AoC, and War. Also first person shooters are big as well Halo 3, CoD 4, all of the battle field series. Those get more positive exposure from a "social" stand point then Eve in America that is for sure.
I have played MMOs on and off since 2003, and I didnt even know Eve existed until 2006. I respect the people who have been able to dominate the same time consuming hobby for 4 or 5 straight years, because I know I could not for many reasons.
I own a T2 BPO and Capital alt, therefor all of my views will be pro-Capital Alt/T2 BPO orientated. Please pick one of the following settings for your response. []hate me []troll me []smack me |

You're not supposed to play one game only day in day out, it will get you burned out very quickly. I play EVE, COD 4, Assassins Creed (still haven't finished it), Civilisation IV, GRAW, The Witcher and a card game from time to time. EVE doesn't bore me to death and I never feel that I have reached the point where I just can't log in anymore. When I get fed up with EVE I do something else. Most people who play one game only for a prolonged period of time leave, never to return. Farjung is my God

Who the heck cares? I'm here to have fun in a make-believe world. Not drag politics and regional differences based on where some stupid king in the 100 BC once took a dump into a game. Let's worry more about lag and less about where people are from.
What he said.
Then think of the timezones. Most of EU is GMT, UK just an hour behind. Most of the russians will be in central or western parts, not far from the eastern european countries who also happens to either speak or understand russian. North America is quite widespread timezone wise.
Still, who cares where people from really, what GulletSplitter said.
