àwhy did they alienate and punish people who had inactive subscriptions?
I know that they have tried to touch base on this, and I am not saying that they are lying; its just that I donÆt believe them.
They say they are doing just fine, and they donÆt need more money yet they launch a power of two campaign and then punish a lot of the people who used it by removing the reason to get it in order to seemingly get more money out of it.
Yes I understand that it allowed people to keep up skillpoint wise without paying for an account however the people who donÆt have the money to pay for a month (or just get tired of all the crap that CCP hasnÆt fixed) now get punished for that fact.
This reminds me of a webcomic strip I saw. Someone was developing a new game, you swiped your credit card and the amount that you paid was the amount of damage done by the hero character.
DonÆt try and be a traditional MMO company CCP. Nobody here wants to play ôany old gameö
You had a good thing going, in my opinion your best bet is to fix it and bring it back up to the standards of the best thing, thatÆs what people start playing this game expecting, and you are letting us down.

Shhh! Don't give CCP any new ideas!
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Well I understand every move they made and why, but informing the players about those changes...which in fact changed a lot of things for many players. You don't go "sorry, we will shut you down in 48h!" to businesses or people.
It's like going to some old ladys house and telling her that her house will be demolished she needs to move. Just when they are leaving "oh yeah, that happens this evening!"

Wierd. I thought the reason to get a use ^2 was to get a second character to play alongside your main…

Most people (at least everyone I have talked to) get a ^2 account in order to get to those first few long ass skills to make them able to fly more than a french-fry box alongside your main and let them train the 30 day monsters on inactive accounts.
Otherwise people just bought characters instead of creating new ones (although I guess you could get a ^2 account and buy a character for it)

Except that the power of two actually has to activate the account for a full six months at a cheaper rate. This doesn't lend itself to any ghost training. The account is active for half a year. And it's purpose is to have another account to dual-play with, not ghost train. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

proper skill management puts yu at about 5-6 30 day skills to train at 6 monts, cycle the account and get your T2 ship level 5 requirements out of the way right there.
I think that the last power of two was about 6 months ago, but I dont know the exact time frame (and dont paticularly care enough to go look it up, yea, im that lazy today)

I notice you say inactive accounts, now if its inactive its means its static, nothing moving, not even skill points.
Things happening on your account is what you pay for.

I really don't understand why people are complaining about Ghost training. I mean They changed there mind. If there many people taking the **** with training long skills and have no intent on playing it other than just training why should CCP fit the cost?
I mean people who going to complain about this need to get real and get a grip. I mean Go with the changes or just SFTU and leave.
I think it's a good Idea they done this.

simple:
pay up or stfu.
*snap fingers*
(yeah, the ghost training whine is ... getting out of hand...)
PS: ghost training never made in Eve-China btw, where farmers abused/would abuse the system... I bet my 0.2 isk that something here is happening like that too... and the "Significant" trend CCP saw has to do with RMT... hence they nerfed it.... thats my suspicion anyways....

I assume your main got quite some SP. It also are always the people with much SP who tell the newbs that you can pvp with low SP. However apparently that isnt true when it is your alt.
How about you use your alt in a blackbird till it can fly a falcon.

The way I see it, CCP is closing a loophole. And people who don't have money to pay for a month shouldn't be worrying about their skill training to be honest. The power of two offer has been around for a LOOOONG time, long before the financial crisis and other world event.
and you would be naive to think that CCP doesnt need more money...
CCP IS A BUSINESS, NOT A CHARITY... BUSINESSES CAN ALWAYS USE MORE MONEY...
but you are wrong on the power of two bit though... it has been around for years...
oh, and this has nothing to do with traditional/whatnot, is just a business decision. they chose to stick with the subscription model... It sounds like you are looking for a free to play one with micro transactions.

^2 is an annual offer. Well..it might not actually be annual but this is the third or fourth time they've run it.
The first one was in September 2004 when I got my second account. It would not be correct IMO to attribute ^2 to any recent events. It's just something they do from time to time to boost subscriptions. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

Eve was the only game that allows player characters to progress even if the was inactive. This offered a great reason for many players(myself included) to reactive account after a long while to check out new ships with new skill trained. Ghost training was a two edge sword, it brought people back to game whom otherwise may not reactive. At same time, ccp didn't make any money while people ghost training their skill.
This change will certainly change Eve as whole in the long run. Will people come back anyway or will they just forget about the game after their get bored now? That is a question that can only answered in time. Personally, if I got bored with the game this time, there is a good chance that I wouldn't be returning. There are more space based online games coming out, and Eve wouldn't be the only game of this kind anymore. Who knows what future might bring to us. After all, if it wasn't for ghost training, I would've left Eve and forgotten about the game long ago. This change is not good nor bad. It is just a choice that ccp made. We, as players either accept it or leave. Simple as that.
