What's next? Lets remove moon mining because those awful alliances in 0.0 are at an unfair advantage because they can get that dyspro that they've blobbed for.
Does anyone other than me think that moons should eventually run out of the materials and replenish with new ones for the sake of balance? Can anyone provide any arguments against it that aren't "I'm in (insert alliance) and we need those moons"?

Edited by: Chaos Incarnate on 20/10/2008 21:21:25 I'm not in an alliance that has dyspro moons, and I think with the current moon scan system making minerals jump around every few weeks would be silly
"Well, it's november now, who wants to go spend an half an hour per system tediously rescanning every moon in the region?"

Maybe you could start a moon probing service and use the money you earn to buy a new face.
Most importantly, how are you supposed to tell whether this is part of my post or my signature? |

"Hai BoB, I'm a faceless Achura alt. Can you give me monies to scan all the moons in your regions? I promise I won't lie and/or reveal important dyspro intel to your enemies! Honest!"
Also, not having a face makes me extra cool, why would I want to buy one? _____________________

I don't know how many times this has been said, but I'll say it again. It is an entirely DIFFERENT team working on ambulation and CCP's vampire-mmo. They do not work on EVE, nor did they before. So stop thinking they were stollen from the EVE staff pool. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

You're dead wrong. Oveur, TomB and other Devs went over to work on the sucky-sucky vampire MMO.

I think a profound change has happened to CCP and their relation to the player base since the old guard moved on. And change not for the better.

Those emos will be well cared for though and I imagine their forums will have 14 different crying smileys too.
On the subject at hand, I support the depletable cache approach to moons.

Depends on the system ofc, but halfhour to an hour sounds right
Net effect is that I think adding in more pointless grind so that the little guy living in lowsec or NPC 0.0 can occasionally get some dyspro stolen by a bigger alliance would suck _____________________

Pointless grind or hope is a matter of perspective and attitude.

the reason for the constant dyspro moons is to create points of power that force others to fight over resources.

We all know the reason for it, we all just don't think it's working out very well. Static spawns were bad for the complexes, they're just as bad for moons.

What part of repetitively redoing the same tasks every few weeks is hopeful?
If the minerals are updated once every two weeks across 5000+ solar systems, to rescan all those moons at an hour apiece would take 5000 man-hours, or approximately 3.5 man-months per two weeks to rescan. Not to mention the billions (150k per probe, ~40 moons/system, 5k systems, which is something like 26b per 2 weeks across eve) of isk that'd have to be spent constantly rescanning the same systems, over and over, which would be passed along to the consumer through highend moon price increases, causing further t2 price increases
The only realistic way to do it would be a fast, reusable mobile moon scanning system that can search a system in a few minutes...or just making the contents of moons public and easy to discern, each of which has its own pitfalls _____________________

And why not transform all the 0.0 to 1.0 and rename Factional Warfare to battlegrounds and I'm sure that the eve subscriptions will rise through the roof. Oh and turn SISI into an RP shard while we're at it.

Opening loot cans is not interesting unless you've just popped an officer or faction spawn. The rest of the time, it's just 'yawn, more cap booster 100s and afterburners. Reprocessing ahoy.' _____________________
