I was puzzled by the recent incident where m0o were attacked by seemingly invincible dev battleships. m0o players claimed they were near-invincible and could teleport.
Pann came out all angry about this claim: "The actions taken today were with in the rules of the game, the ships being used are ships in the game. The empires have ample resources to manufacture them and the pilots controlling then have up to 3+ years experience flying EVE vessels.
If you want to role-play a pirate corp., this is the environment we provide. The only thing we are guilty of is not communicating this clearly enough but in this case everyone involved had a chance to evacuated empire space before "the four" hit them."
This confused many people, surely someone must be lying? Well.. I wasconfused to, until i noticed something.
TTI-Nexus takes stats for nearly everything in eve direct from the game. Most of the stuff isnt implemented and will be modified heavily before use. trawling through this I saw a collection of items, catagorized "cheat modules"
"lockdown module: 200km range. -100%speed for 5mins."
"Teledock : automatic dock at target station"
"Telegate : automatic travel to gate destination"
and
"Space Anchor: use not obvious..."
These modules ARE in the game, and im sure there are more similar ones, however they will only be available through GM spawning. Pann wasnt lying completely, just being extremely misleading perhaps. battleships equipped with these and similar modules would explain what m0o claim they saw (and I believe).
So.What I think is: No the Battleships wernt using out of game methods, but Yes they were using Cheats. that is modules put into the game specifically for the purpose of GMs doing things players couldnt (unless they got the modules, which they cant.)
I think thats just as bad as using out of game methods personally, and the misleading us about it too...

You are a fool if you think the empires would not have the battleships to kick ass like that.
I think this topic has been covered quite enough. ----------- Vala Dae'Tarien Shattered Star Sales |

Dude, I've just come up with a perfectly logical explination for BOTH sides arguements. It makes sense, and it is hard to deny what i'm saying, unless you have proof to the opposite.
You havnt even got an arguement there, go **** up someone elses thread.

Why the hell are you dragging this back up?

You've taken the fact that they have cheat modules to mean that they used cheat modules.

"So here's the deal: We have battleships, they are not invaulnerable (so far we haven't been shot on so i'm surprised at this claim), we don't have instalock, what we used was a smartbomb which is area effect (doesn't require target), all weapons and equipment was tech level #1, but we did use the same equipment strategy as you did which might explain the power of our energy weapons."
Frankly, I think if any claim about misleading people should be leveled, it's at the author of this thread. Given the number of times that people complained that mOo were cheating, I'm not in the least suprised that they felt CCP was cheating when the same thing was done back to them in a scaled up way.
Seriously, there's really no point in starting a conspiracy theorist: "CCP uses silent black battleships with modules no-one has access to" thread.

You've come up with an explanation based on supposition and assumptions that CCP are lying through their teeth. Its hard to deny what you say because you've already thrown out the explanations to the contrary, and because you have no proof of your own.

m0o got what they deserved, well they deserve even more, and yes the GMs absolutely the right thing, since mo0 rampage trough civilized space under Empire control, killing everything and everyone...

Lallante, you are forgetting one thing as well. If the GMs did cheat, then moo would have lost more then one ship, and all their pilots would have been podded.
Seriously, why bring this back up when the total casualties was one ship, not a single pilot dead? All in all, it is more an argument of principle on if GMs should directly participate in the game like that. I can guarantee that if they did do a lockdown like that, or used any sort of cheats, the moo pilots wouldn't have stood a chance to make it out alive, which all of them did. |
