Still, it's cool, just somehow they do not look as good as they do on CCPs website. Is it the camera? Lighting? They look too "plasticy" for the lack of a better word. Anyway, enjoy em. Not sure if they could've gotten more out of inking and shading, but then again, that's also quite a bit more time involved with each miniature. Again, my only complaints really fall on the Tempest in the use of the standard and slightly out of scale paneling vs. the rectanguliar panels of the faction version of the Tempest. Also, I'd have preferred if the majority of the tubing was in fact a separate piece per side, instead of being completely solid throughout the miniature. Depending upon the casting this could have been a bit more time-consuming, tedious than what they were capable of doing at the time of production. Again, hope that you enjoyed the links to the different pictures. Diplomacy hiding in plain sight...

Just shut up, you tit. On-topic: I have to say I'm disappointed by these now that I've seen a few in the flesh. Too plasticky, and too 'soft' looking, like the moulding process couldn't do sharp edges properly. Add to that the fact that they've got the faction paintjobs completely wrong, and I'm thoroughly underwhelmed. Shame.

I would defo repaint them myself to give them the justice they deserve. Maybe if they were photographed in a low light setting with some atmospheric light played upon them they would fair better.

Can you imagine the extra greatness of the Fleet Tempest if it had been done as an actual model kit. All the tiny girders and minute details perfectly done. To finish it off all you would have to do is spray prime it then put whatever paint schem you liked on it with an airbrush and some model paints. (admittedly the painting of it could go either way on it looking good depending on talent and experience)

They may not have every scratch on the hull there, but it's still very well done. Check out my Flickr set, I did some macro shots (lighting was crap, but oh well). I could see there being interest for a paintable version of the models but that's going to have a much smaller interest than the already painted ones. I can't see it being cost effective at all for them to produce, especially given the niche nature of the current ones. warp drive active \| nature vraie

Having been at the house when Mecha took these photos, I can definitely say the camera was a factor in the appearance of the ships, most particularly the Megathron. The colors actually appear much darker and more subdued. Unfortunately the camera presented the same colors with much higher brightness and contrast. It just looked really bad compared to viewing the real thing. I thought the models were quite solid with a good weight to them, so while they may look a bit ôplasticyö in the photos, they definitely arenÆt. My biggest disappointment was with the hand painted lights on all the ships. I was telling Mecha that had I bought them, IÆd definitely repaint most of the detailed touches. I think anyone with a little patience could have done a much better job. For years I've flown nothing but Matari ships, so I was disappointed when seeing the Tempest. I wanted guns, more rust, and a better overall paint job. Since IÆm not an EVE role player I donÆt mind saying my favorite ship of the bunch was the Apoc. It has cool metallic accents, and wasnÆt ruined by so many of the poor quality details painted by hand. Thanks again to Mecha for taking the photos. It was great to see them in person before they went to your office. I'm sure your co-workers often ask "WTF?"

Would've hoped that the copper tops and highlights with the rusted copper sides would've come out better than the pair of dark greens used in the Navy version of the model. Most cars value decreases by half the minute its drove off the dealers lot these days. These, the minute CCP stops making them, can only go up in value if in good condition, and dont lose such a big chunk of value the minute you open the box

They definitely look more 'spiffy' in RL, especially the Apoc.
