I am new to linux. I am not going to ask how to get EVE working (yet) i would like to try on my own, but i would like to know what is the best distro for games. |

They are all equally good. They do have their differences but one can always get the things to work. If Linux was a car then it would be the one where you can still open the hood and fix anything yourself by only using a wrench and a hammer.
What matters is that there is enough support for a distribution and as long as they either support Debian packages (.deb-files) or Red Hat packages (.rpm-files) will you be fine. This is the case for almost every Linux distribution and many can handle both formats.
I suggest that you use Ubuntu. It is based on Debian and was designed to be user friendly and has got a pretty large support from its community.

I use Debian, the "mother of all", because I am used to it and it is one of the oldest distributions around. It is not quiet as user-friendly as Ubuntu, but is nice for developers and it comes in three different forms: one is rock stable, one is for testing and the other is for the untested and hot stuff. Ubuntu is based on Debian, but comes with many extensions to make it more user-friendly. |

As he said, any of them will work. If you don't like the interface that Ubuntu is using currently (called Unity), you may want to use Linux Mint---essentially, it's Ubuntu's underpinnings but with a more "classic" UI, and makes it even easier for newcomers.
Also, if you just follow the guide here for getting it to work on linux, you'll be fine (though their link to the WineHQ page is old, check the latest update to game progress HERE.
