The problem is the A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) or in this case A.S. (Artificial Stupidity) is the same for both sentries and normal drones, it's just their activation range is huge, range is long and speed is tiny. If you increased velocity sentries would just try to orbit the target. ------ FIX THE BLOODY OVERVIEW ALREADY! SPEED NERF! RUN FOR THE HILLS! |

Bingo. So while they'd return to your drone bay quicker when you tried to scoop, they'd also move away from your ship when you don't want them to. Fixing this takes coding resources and that's like.. taboo or something. _______________________________________________ CCP CENSORSHIP ALERT: CAN YOU SPOT IT? |

Fix em so they only can move at 10ms when you recall them.
Ok slightly exploitable but not a lot tbh.

I only wonder why my drones (most often sentries) usually go wild and shoot whatever they want and are back to old behaviour of switching target...
I order them to kill A after a while they are bored and engage B and C.

Its because they are YOUR drones and they learned from YOU.

I thought sentry drones had a hidden speed already. Something like 1m/s or slower.
1) Deploy drones 2) Move out of scoop range 3) Recall drones 4) Range slowly decreases.
Somewhat useful on a dread. If I recall my sentry drones a few minutes before siege mode exits I can usually get most of them back.

Drone scoop range needs to be increased to around 3km. Problem solved. |

AFAIK, it was a bug sentries moved at all in the first place... |

Well, it was tremendously useful when sentries would be deployed, the ship would be desynched, the gui would show the drones at 0km distance however they could not be scooped.
Recall, wait, wait, wait, wait some more, x's disappear, warp out. Better than relogging.
A speed of 10m/s would be great. Too slow to be useful in combat, fast enough to make up for when drones and recall is bugged.

Seeing this too, and they are even wondering off to attack targets that aren't even aggressed.
As for sentries, I prefer an increase in scoop range to giving sentries speed. The increase would solve a number of other issues while the speed would open up the opportunity for a whole load more. |

This.
Sentries are totally different than normal drones. Why should they use the same AI? Sentries should be totally overhauled. They should be able to behave as a STATIONARY drone should, at the very least. Ideally you could deploy them and have them defend an area from agressed targets or something, oh I don't know... Sentry-like?
