I was just wondering if anyone wanted to help out doing a guide on Do's and Dont's for new mission-runners, both what each ship can do (not a OMG THIS SHIP IS THE BEST, but a realistic evaluation of each ships capabilities), and also what kind of tanks is needed for missions ect. Hoping that someone wants to do this with me, as i am not a "long-time" missionrunner and dont know how well different ships do. Cheers

The reason you trained Caldari for missions was so you don't have to think. . .don't start now.

Eve-Mission Survival Guides
Do the research on your mission by going to the above link.
Do some research on the forums for fitting your ship properly. PvE and PvP involve very different setups for each type of ship.
Do make a habit of checking your cargohold for adequate/appropriate ammo, and drone bay for rat specific drones.
Do click "Repair Shop" in station and get a repair quote for your ship and its modules/drones. Fix anything that needs repair.
Do recall your drones to drone bay after every spawn and immediately after you've cleared the pocket.
Do take all aggro on your ship before launching drones.
Do all "Orbit at" and "Keep at Distance" adjustments immediately after undocking. Same goes for organizing your drones by type and quantity.
Do have a designated folder in your drone bay to move armor and hull damaged drones to during battle. That way you won't launch them again just to recall them.
Do hide passive modules and set and lock active modules prior to going to mission site.
Do set up your overview to exclude all clutter and designate it "Combat 1" or such. Set it up to exclude wrecks, gates, stations, and asteroids. Set up a "Combat 2" to include roids, large collidable objects, containers, and whatever else you might need to examine once rats are dead.
I'll think of more, but that's enough for now.

(1) Do things your own way.
(2) Don't pay attention to arrogant idiots who think the way they do things is the ONLY way things can be done. You might have more fun doing them differently. ________________________________________________

Do realize there are players who won't lift a finger to help another player, and denigrate well-intentioned posters.
They have a condition referred to as "anal defilade". |

1.Warping out is not a tactic - it's a failure. 2.If you are unsure of your tank take out frigs at a distance first. 3.If fighting Guristas learn what jams and take them out first. 4.Always check your fit before undocking.

tip for guristas: jammers dont jam so often when only one ship is locked. |

There are 2 secrets to effective mission running:
1) Don't tell anyone all of your secrets. |

I've been told that gallente racial drones are almost always better due to thier higher damage multiplier and therefor I shouldn't bother with race specific ones... true/false? Is it really worth training more racial drone specs? |

Usually true. I trained them b/c some enemies (Angels) are weaker to a certain kind. I do notice a difference in damage and the time it takes to kill them, though. It's not worth training other races if you aren't going to be using a drones in any significant manner.
Short version: if you're asking and aren't gallente, then stick to gallente drones. |

This is a really good idea, of course there are a lot of guides but updating the basics is a great plan.
We were going to work on a mission FAQ, I'll trudge off to find the link to it but I think those two threads combined would be very useful.

Don't:
Be player number 5,287,598 to make a post on the Ship Setups forum asking for a Raven mission running setup, there's already 5,287,597 available.
