Edited by: Metal Monster on 25/10/2008 09:30:55 I was playing 10-20 mmorpg's but 1st. time i see something like that happens in mmorpg. You guys (developers) are actualy answering, listening to players and not thinking only $$ while investors molester you making even more $$.
Becouse with such strategy comunity will get more "improved" and that old stereo type of develpers not listening to players will die (well on EVE it just has?).
Tnx again for listening us.

Just because they hear us, doesn't mean they listen.
But yea the zulu thread goes along way in helping. It's just a shame they have to let player/devs relations get so bad, before their PR department kicks in. But it seems to be the trend. |

If Zulupark would leave me alone and stop doing everything in his power to ruin what is currently a fun game, I'll leave him alone. |

Half the community whine the CCP are listening to the masses too much. The other half that they don't listen at all.
CCP: Give them the patience to listen to that which is true The will to ignore that which is false And the wisdom to know the difference |

Very impressed by Zulupark's knowledge and openness with the players.
I dont agree with everything he's said or done, but blogs and stuff like that is an awesome way to interact with the community.
I hope he keeps it up. Good job CCP. |

Ok. How's this:
CCP listens to the masses... then somehow reacts in the most absurd method possible to fix whatever it is they've whined about.
Rather like complaining to someone that there's a mouse in your kitchen, and then the other guy bulldozes the house to get rid of it.
Yeah. They listen.

This is how it used to be a number of years ago. Thing is they have been moving away from the player community for many years now, what Zulupark is doing used to be pretty standard thing.
Community questions were answered, and it was not a big deal or a cause for celebration. It was an every day thing that a dev would come to forums and answer a question or two. This kept community respecting the developers, rather than seeing them as adversaries, as many of us see them now.
CCP you need to get back to your roots, and base, us, your players. Respect us, we will respect you. Help us, and we will keep playing and paying. It has been a very long time since CCP treated its players with any respect. I hope things are starting to change. |

Eve's devs are actualy probably the most comunicative out there of any mmo. They are actualy alot more active on the fourms than most people want to admit, as well as active in playing the game(ie super secret dec alts etc).
People tend to complain and dislike changeing the status quo, and hence go to one of the only mediums they have were they can feel some what listened to, or at least recived.
We are lucky that we play a game were the devs dont actualy bend to the collective whime of every whine by the fourmites. While they read alot more posts than they reply to they are pretty resnable when it comes to well evidenced posts and issues. They wont change something due to someone wanting a new uber unbeatable ship.
Its their game, they say the direction that the balances go, what is added and by how much. What most people dont realise is that they DO have our best intrests at heart, due to the fact that they want to make this the best game ever and a very fun and enjoyable game to play, in what ever way you want to play it.

tbh, as soon as CCP thinks the "ghost training" debacle has subsided or has been forgotten by the players we'll be right back to crappy Dev/player interaction just like it has been for the last 2+ years.
I sincerely hope I am wrong though.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Of course, the community was also a lot more constructive and pleasant to deal with back then too. You shock the mouse enough, he stops reaching for the peanuts.

Yes it's a shame that the forums have been mostly overrun by mouth-breathing idiots over the last 2 years. There used to be a time when the devs would have time to read and respond to good posts before they were flooded with whining and general asshatery. IMO they've still got a good track record for making changes that are good for the game overall and NOT listening to a minority of the playerbase who either want something changed to their advantage, or want something to stay as it is (also to their advantage.

In my first MMO the gms would come on and walk around and talk to the players and even play with them.
I wont forget, one time the head GM made the town area a PVP area, and just instantly killed all of us with some sort of hax gm kill everything spell. Then he resurrected us all with some sort of mass resurrection spell. And then he turned pvp mode off.
I wish mmos would be like that again ;_; |

Pretty much, I'd have to agree with that. Except for Zulupark, who has repeatedly shown a complete lack of understanding on many topics, and loves to go fix things that aren't actually broken instead of fixing the things that are broken.
Like interdictor speeds. How many times was Zulupark told that interdictor speed was the only defence they had? Has his change been proven right? Hell no. How many times was Zulupark told that the issue was a certain T1 rig that was better that the equivalent low slot module? Even with that repeatedly thrown at him, he refused to listen. And guess what fix is in the upcoming molasses patch? It took how long for that to happen?
The best fix available to CCP currently is to save some money and reduce the salary bill slightly. |

Heh Ultima Online I bet.
Devs in Eve are a bit like that on Sisi though. I shot a few devs on there. And one of them haxed my ship to blow up too. ---

Agreed, it really has become annoying to read so many overboard posts bout devs that dont have the same opinion as them, thank god most of them would only behave that way on the internet ;) |
