Seriously, is there one? Does anyone ever get anything other than the usual "According to our logs..." replies from a petition?

Yes, reimbursement petitions are occasionally reimbursed. Depends when, where, how, the alignment of the planets, and a few other needless variables. Mainly, though, if you explode in an overcrowded laggy system, it's pretty much your own fault |

Interesting. Well I filed one because several million of my LPs just, um, vanished. According to CCP, it's because my account was inactive for a bit. I also lost a level 5 / rank 5 skill nerfed because of their logs bla bla. Thanks CCP you guys really rock. |

I filed a petition last week and got a satisfying answer within 24 hours, so I guess there is a point to petitions. Then again, I'm not abusing the system by filing reimbursement petitions for every ship loss hoping I might get something back even though it was my own fault I lost the ship in the first place.

That sounds a bit weird to me. But of course odds are your anecdote leaves out vital information which CCP does have .

I got my ship and implants back that died when I DCed in the middle of a fight. I didn't think there'd be any point in making a petetition, but I thought it can't hurt and one day, I had my stuff back xD

Youre right, it's that part about "our logs bla bla"
After 4 years, who here would sign off (knowing it was for an extended period) and NOT set a skill to last - and triple check that it was ticking? Right. And for the LPs issue, they have a non-answer, it's a joke. We're talking several million LPs, just gone. The "LP Store" is new since this toon played, I suspect it's somehow related to that.
Point is, those are real losses and CCP's answer is smug and useless, as per usual. Like nobody cares, so what, it's just a rank 5 level 5 and a few million LPs. Big woop. |

So what is it about your specific loss that makes you think that it should be reimbursed?
Everytime that I have had a solid case for reimbursement, it has been granted. Even when the initial response and the follow up senior response said that it was not justified, a restatement and clarification of the facts that the GM was confused about ensured that I got what was justified.
You just need to make sure that you have a case: lag/disconnect doesn't cut it. |

So you accurately remember your LP balance from 2 years ago?
Or am I misunderstanding what your problem is? |

Not precisely (as in to the digit) but yes actually, I do. That's a *lot* of mission running and know there was 4.5 million. It seems to me that a simple look at standings would confirm it and then possibly a look at purchases. CCP don't even suggest a solution to the problem, it's always the same stock answer "According to our logs.." well, yes, I understand that but I'm contesting that and something is very wrong when that, and a level 5 skill can get nerfed. |

While I would also be miffed at the disappearance of 4.5 million LP, I can't say that I am overly suprised that they don't have logs available from 2 years ago to verify your claim.
There needs to be some reasonable statute of limitations on how far back you are able to go looking for a reimbursement. I think that most people will agree that 2 years is well beyond that limit. |

Hmm...I think i might have had something similar happen to me. I know I had misile launcher operation V before quitting for a long while, and when i come back it was IV and half done. I was also at a POS in 0.0 when i last logged on im pretty sure, and when i reactivated I was in my clone station, but in my ship with all fittings.
I thought I had just been podded without remebering it and had maybe flown the ship back from 0.0 without remembering it either, but maybe it was the same sort of bug.

Yes. GM responses have always been excellent to me, even when they have been unable to help me. The 'bigger issue' problems (from when i helped run an alliance) were dealt with promptly and escalated when necessary.
As for reimbursement, my successful requests are 2 out of 4 attempts.

Edited by: goodby4u on 25/10/2008 17:43:30 99.9% of other mmos wouldnt even answer your petitions(ive played several before).
CCP actually tries to clear it up and if you(or they)cant provide data to back your claim up your to be concidered just another false petitioner trying to get free stuff. |

I've had good experiences with the GMs and petitions, always helpful.
I think most of the "OMGWTF LAG" petitions are the ones where the "logs show nothing" but that is just me.

I was under the impression the GMs worked on a "fermentation" policy. Leave the petition alone for as long as possible and hope the petitioner gives up. |

These posts come up here in GD every now and then.. and I'm always as puzzled, and always reply the same; I've had a number of petitions and more or less all of them have had good response, in short time. Couple of shiplosses, a few stuck petitions, some bugreports, one or two others.
On top of my head I can only recall one of them that was both a poor reply as well as slow. Not that shabby in 3year+ and 10-15? petitions.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I don't have any issue with the overall responsiveness, they do respond and generally very quickly.
I just rarely see them resolved or even investigated, they're invariably left to hang or take the position that a claim is invalid, therefore it doesn't merit further investigation.
What I've seen (and this is nothing new) is the stock answer with no follow-through beyond that. It's as though they don't read the petition - I don't make a claim lightly, it's something I file when I've felt there has been an obvious glitch. In these cases, it's pretty clear something is very wrong yet CCP come back with the cursory response and leave it at that. It's a kind of 'tough luck' approach that doesn't sit well, there's enough 'tough luck' once you undock, I expect CCP to consider that, on occasion, their logs may reflect an inconsistency with the experiences of the user and rather than dismiss the request outright, give it another look.
Responsive customer service is no customer service at all if the issues are constantly ignored.
Some of you appear to have had much better experiences than I. In 5 years, I've had 2-3 reimbursement claims returned favorably - and in each instance, with a caveat that made the solution CCP provided effectively useless. |

Never been in a position to petition a loss (thank goodness) but the few experiences I have had are extremely positive. Outstanding in fact

I lost a Dominix to CONCORD once, unaware that I had been flagged. CCP checked the logs and let me know that apparently I'd blown up a structure in a mission that I shouldn't have, but they kindly replaced everything that was destroyed by CONCORD (stuff that dropped as loot was lost) and removed the insurance payout from my account. The GM also took the liberty of resetting the warning box that should've popped up and told me not to shoot the structure in the first place. |

I usually have too. Reimbursements are the only weird part of the GM responses, everything else has always been relatively quick for me |

Problem is that many people just petition half their losses. And CCP also should not reimburse anything when it doesnt show anything wrong in their logs. |

last petition I done was a battle in 0.0! We were deafening a POS! We has an active POS with password. Then I lost my ship in side the POD and the GM said POS isn't even there. I replied saying umm yes? then they said it wasn't active and the password wasnt set ......... So I never got my ship back. Tho this was last year tho.
Also some time ago i lost my paladin to a bug in a mission! Flied a bug report and they said I was just unlucky which I disagree but i left it.! Tho I waiting to hear from my petition! I really hope i get this ship back because If I don't then it the last straw and Quite! I mean hard work just goes to a bug!! So fingers crossed |
