I have the chance to get either one of them. Question is, which should I work on getting?
What I don't have is either battleship lv 5 for either race yet.
I'm primarily Gallente but wouldn't mind having a laser boat.
Just not too sure what is the pro and con for both nor what I should consider in choosing either one of them.
My main ship is an Astarte if that helps any. Oh and I mission run exclusively.
Help me decide?
Thanks in advance.

Which missions do you normally run? The Kronos and Paladin are more or less stuck with their damage types, so pick the boat that most fits your needs. I'd imagine they'd perform similarly at high skill levels, so I think its mainly just damage type.
Amarr Empire missions tend to be Sansha/Blood/Merc/Drone heavy, so Paladin a million times. Anything Serpentis/Guristas heavy, Kronos. |

Paladin against Blood/Sansha/Drones outperforms Kronos against Serpentis/Guristas. About 20% better gun dps and tracking, 35% better volley damage, and less cargo and isk taken up by ammo. So if you are free to choose your mission running faction, going Amarr and Paladin wins. If you are stuck running for Gallente or Caldari though, you will do better with a Kronos due to NPC resists. And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

Do I have t2 weapons for both? No, unfortunately not. But I don't mind working my arse off to get it along with the ship itself. (If only kronos/paladin came out in 2006 when I started playing and made me want it as my dream ship instead of the astarte...)
As for missions I run, yeah it's mostly gallente missions. I will have to look more into what the npcs resists the most against in both amarr and gallente missions. Won't the paladin's dps still be greater than the kronos overall, regardless of what mission it runs? Or are both of them the same DPS wise? I'm still unfortunately still split 50/50 on this.

No, your EM damage will just suck against gurista. And that's even if you fit Tachs and multifrequence lenses. If you are insane enought to use pulses to shoot them then... well... |

Seems like it will be Kronos since I know next to nothing about how laser works. I also don't have a spare account (or the moola) to test the amarr race out despite so many people saying the Amarr race has finally been un-gimped by CCP.

You think you have any actual problems with taking down Guristas? With that kind of damage? Jeez. You will only have to make sure to keep range, keep firing and warp in an emergency.
The Paladin has range, cargo and pure damage advantage.

1. Get Paladin, screw Kronos. 2. Get a new agent (not hard). 3. ... 4. Profit.

Yeah Gurista BS resistances suck a bit if you only got EM. And yeah im one of the insane people that uses Puls against Guristas works not to bad in the end, at least in MF Range they melt fast.
Kronos is not as bad as you general read on the Forums, since Kin Damage > EM Damage most of the Times, while the Laser got the DPS advantage it is not that mutch diffrence. Puls on the other hand are pure win tracking whise but need some slots or/and Rigs for the Range.
In the end if you donŠt mission for Amarr only both ships performe equaly well(asuming from my Abaddon, since the only diffrence is tank and the cap + the Marauder things in the end).
Also the Damage Bonus of the Paladin is on the Marauder Skill while it is on the BS Skill at the Kronos, so 50 Days to get the max Damage out of the Paladin you can save with the Kronos(this 7.5% Tracking are nice but not worth 50 Days in the end). ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!

Looks like Kronos is the choice. I still have 2 more skills to go before I pick a ship so that should give me some time to think about it. Thanks to all for the replies and don't be afraid to say more insights to all this.

I trained up to get a Kronos and just never could make it work. I was flying Golem before that and loved it. I am now training towards the Paladin. Hoping it will do better. I have a Nightmare that I use for just pure brutal DPS, so I am anxious to see what a Paladin can do. Maybe I wasn't fitting the Kronos correctly, but it seemed to be way too much trouble with trying to stay at a certain range and web frigates, etc. That is just my experience, yours might be different.

Every time I've seen a Kronos in action, the frigates don't make it to webifier/scrambler range. |
