Allow me to lay out a simplified version of the main faction tables.
Amarr - Caldari - Ammatar Mandate - Khanid Kingdom - Mordu's Legion Command
HATES
Minmatar - Gallente - ORE - Servant Sisters Of Eve - Jove
ALSO - Intaki Syndicate likes all NPC pirates (angel guristas serpentis etc) AND - Concord Assembly likes ALL NPC FACTIONS AMARR MINMATAR GALLENTE CALDARI ALIKE.
if you are missioning in empire use concord assembly. this will keep you positive with everyone.
The way FACTION standings, and the keyword here is faction standings NOT corperation standings, work is that every 15 missions you with one specific agent, you get a storyline mission. This special mission is the only mission that will alter your FACTION standings in any way. Each corperation is also part of a faction which is how you know which faction your doing missions for. (obviously)
When you complete a storyline mission. whatever faction the corperation your doing it for is part of and EVERYONE that that faction likes will increase depending on how much that faction likes them.
Because every faction has some other faction that they only like a little bit it protects you from being screwed over and never being able to slowly and painfully work your way back into their good whims.
For example. upon completing a minmatar storyline that yeilds 0.50 faction gain to minmatar republic standing, you would also gain 80% of 0.50 standing with Gallente federation because minmatar likes 8.0 faction standing with Gallente Federation, 40% of 0.50 faction gain with ORE, because minmar likes ore 4.0 standing. etc. That is the mathematical formula for it.
So as long as you do storyline missions with a faction, you will gain to an extent an ammount of faction with everyone that that faction likes. From this knowledge everyoen should be able to repair any and all standings.
ANY questions or discrepency's with the data provided in this thread plz post and i'll get back to ya
sticky plz

How do you propose doing missions for CONCORD, considering they have no agents to hand out aforesaid missions? -----------------------------------------------

i would say atm you need for a storyline:
- exactly "16" missions for a faction - no matter which corp as long as the corp is part of the faction you are missioning - the missions need to be of the same level but "NOT for the same corp or agent"! (thus 16 missions lvl2 or 16 of lvl4 - mixing has no influence on the counter, also mixing missions with different factions is possible - each level and faction has it's own counter) - as an example: you can also run amarr missions for agents located in caldari space if the corp belongs to amarr - the mission counts for amarr
feel free to correct me but that's my experience
addons: - a storyline mission don't "count" for the 16 missions - if you get a storyline you have to do it first (or decline) to start the counter again, if you do missions with pending storyline these missions dont count!

Interbus agents haven't given out storyline missions for some time, so unless that has changed (again), the interbus agents don't help with faction standing.

Ohh, just add the formula for how much standing you actually gain for the corporation you're working for and what variables that matter.
Oh, and how it works in reverse. If that 0.5 mission you just described is denied, what standings are affected and how? And what is that loss compared to a completed mission, what's the ratio or algorithm to convert it?
Great start for a... complete.. guide ;) |

by denied are you asking how much standing you would loose for failing the storyline mission? if so in the example of the minmatar mission. for say you lost 0.50 instead of gaining it for failing the mission the algorithm i'd presume would simply work in reverse so 80% of .50 would be lost wiht gallente etc.
And yes this is the tryin to be the start of a reliable source of standing info please add contributions if there is any other discreppency's. ty

I had to check the post date for a sec there. I thought I was reading a post from 2005.
There's so many errors here that I don't know where to start.
Ignore this thread, assume Kraeken is trolling, and move along. |

The storyline mission counter is kept separately for each agent. If you, for example, do parallel missions with two agents in the same station, you'll notice that you get storylines for them in short succession.

This is incorrect.
Storylines are counted per level and per faction. 2 gallente level 3 agents will increment the same counter. A gallente and minmatar level 3 agent will not, a gallente level 2 and level 3 agent will not.
Also, leaving a storyline queued or incomplete has no impact upon your ability to recieve storylines. If you have an open storyline then the next closest storyline agent will offer you a second mission. |

As mentioned by others Jove doesn't hate Caldari. You get an OK Jove increase by doing Caldari missions. |

What about if you are in a fleet and someone turns a mission in for the fleet. Does it count?
