Does this actually happen?
I've ejected from most everything I've flown and it's never blown up. Anyone ever seen/experienced this?

well, if you have meachincs V and your ship has less than 20% hull, it should explode right away (due to +25% hull bonus from mechanics).
but i'm not sure |

Are you talking about internet spaceships, or is this a clever euphemism for your love life?

I have ejected from severly dammaged ships and nothing has happened. Once I got back into the ship all the bonuses from my skills were gone, hull at 1% and what not. just ejecting will not blow it up. You can eject from a ship or shuttle so you can "upgrade" if you see a derilict (sp sry) ship floating in space.
I once aquired a covetor that way... I dont know why but some one abandoned it outside a station in Ours. Let see a shuttle for a mining barge... fair trade. BTW this was back when you could not leave your ship while docked.

The eject message gives you a warning that your skills may be the only thing holding your ship together. That 25% hull can make quite the difference ehh? |

I ejected from a ship once and it didn't explode. Now I'm afraid to do it again in case the first time was a fluke. :( |

I've had multiple people eject from their damaged ships to try and save their pod during ransoming (solo, so noone was firing) and the ship blew up, creating no killmail or such. So yes, they do blow up when damaged and someone ejects.

Apparently if you eject from a ship that has crazy hull damage and is only being kept from going nova because of mechanic skill bonuses it will explode.

it shouldn't explode because of bonuses leaving. the skill adds 25% to the base HP, if you have 1 HP left, you really have like .75 HP left, if you eject, you lose that .25 HP that the skill gave, but the ship should still be there.
that is unless EVE rounds down in whole numbers on damage. in which case, your fuxed. |

There is a warning text when you eject (unless you have disabled it) that specifically warns you may be about to lose your ship if its heavily damaged, so yes, it can happen, and yes, CCP warn you (if you are listening to them). |

That warning message was exactly why I tried it. It was a frig with about 5% hull left and very little shields no armor. When I got back into the frig I had only 1% hull left and the shields were the same. That was a long time ago... Revelations era so maybe it is different now.

Wrong. Example, 100 HP base hull. With skill ship has 125 HP. If you take 100 damage, ie 25 HP (or less) remaining, ship will explode if you eject.
