I know the feeling Great spinoff for CCP from the skill-system is that there are hundreds of people paying them just to advance their characters but not actually playing...

So what. Most of us do that with most mmorpg's we play. You know, play the hell out of it for a few weeks/month, then try something else. The good MMorpg's you come back to...like i am doing with eve for the third time hehe.

The nature of mmporgs is simply the fact that there is a very big danger of 'burn out' - it will always be the case for any genre where you spend a huge amount of hours... no matter how interesting the gameplay, youa re still investing it in one 'game' and at one point depending on your character, you will simply cave. I have played a number of mmporgs and every single one has resulted in me leaving 'suddenly' when I burned out so completely I left, cancelled my account just like that. Now a little wiser, I am ensuring that whenever I am any clsoe to this I take a time out, change what I am doing and boy am I enjoying things a lot more.
This is not a 'EVE' situation, its a genre thing. If anything this is less likely in EVE than any of the competition present or forthcoming for a number of reasons that I won't get into in detail since thats a whole new discussion. But in a summary - no classes, no levelling, offline skill training, player market and your imagination being the limit in *this* game easily places it on the mmporg with the 'least' burn out factor of them. There is no question that the biggest burnout occurs due to level grinds and campfests, both which do not exist here. It really is as simple as that.
This is the only mmporg that I have ever come back to (was a beta tester and on release gamer) and for a guy that never really gives game second chances, not only did I try it again but I am staying and loving it. Speaks volumes about CCP and how they know what to do to satisfy their player base unlike almost everyone of their competition (cough Verant, Funcom etc etc). Shiva forthcoming, put this game in perspective with other mmporgs 'post expansion' and itll really show the depth and scope of EVE. -----

          Bored as well.
Bored of mining, bored of pvp, bored of npc hunting, bored of trading, bored of manufacturing, bored of cluster problems, bored of TomB nerfing the hell out of everything, bored of hearing about Shiva fixing all the problems...
...just bored! I'm off to make some toast - maybe that will help. |

          nope it's not a sign.
You still logged on to "check skill training"
It's not a sign until you don't log on at all and you don't care about skill training.

The toast was good. I'm expecting a nerf on it soon though - maybe a reduction on its ability to melt butter or an increase on the speed at which it burns...? |

  Nope.
Your toast will be nerfed in size. Your current toast, and all the future toasts, will be reduced in size by 78.9%. The price per toast will stay the same. Any further gripes/comments will be ignored. Thank you for eating our toasts! --------------

and a series of class 8 skills will be released with Shiva to allow you to use toast of the size you're currently used to, as long as you train all 15 class 8 skills to lvl 5. Don't complain, you said you wanted new content.
