Short answer, no.
Long answer:
Infinity would have to offer EVERYTHING that Eve offers - a (dys)functional player driven economy, control over space, politics, single server-farm for all players, PvP, PvE, manufacturing, IPO's, risk/reward that makes losing and winning MEAN something, etc. In short, it would have to be Eve, and do at least some of that list BETTER.
Considering the team is...very small (last I knew it was ONE PERSON), I have serious doubts that IFQE will kill Eve. And at this point, Eve has a very strong forward momentum, with regularly delivered new content (of debatable value, but still new), and a playerbase reaching back to '03, and a continuous drive to squash bugs, improve, balance, rebalance, make more stuff shiny(er).
My own guesstimate is that the thing that will kill Eve will be its own dev team. They've yet managed to avoid any game-killing mis-steps, albeit there've been some doozies that players have shouted down.

Nice and all that but never going to happen. I love how the arrogant *****s who occupy the forum over there are constantly sat in their castle's scoffing at EVE, like they have been for the last three or four years, while we're actually playing a game. It's vaporware.

tbh... if there is any laughing it is currently directed at you. Much of the infinity community do infact play EVE. EVE doesnt have everything anyone could want in a spaceship game and neither will Infinity but it is attracting attention for features which EVE lacks.

Just FYI- this is the bazillionth article about Infinity on these forums, with no new news. Its also the 3rd thread I've read this week titled roughly "XXXXX - The end of EVE". Every time there's a nerf, the place gets flooded with them.

"Compulsive liar," because one of my statements may not be true? Hyperbole much?
All I'll say in my defense is that I first heard of Infinity on the EnB boards. That was at least 4.5 years ago, and the only thing that has happened since then is the combat alpha, and that was released about 2 years ago. So shame on me for not thinking we'll see this game any time soon.
