This is going to sound like a troll, but it's not. I'm not looking for a response.
Points 1 to 3 of Etom's original post are valid, though you could at a pinch combine 2 and 3 into a single point "Why do I uncloak at 1km range from another object?".
Points 4 to 7 are not points at all, they are just whinge. And to be fair, I'm sure we've all felt the same at some time. But it does just look like Etom's working hard to pad the post out to make it look more worthy.
And since we all seem to be interested in how old people are, I'm 38 next week (happy birthday to me), but seriously, what has that got to do with the price of bacon? ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm a STARSHIP. * ========================================= |

Stargates do not decloak you.
The true solution should be smartbombs should not effect cloaking. There should me a mod out thier to break the cloak which could be activated and be on at all times with a 5km radius. --------------------------
Garsh ma it soo cool killing people in there space thingies |

How about we just remove cloaking altogether and forget it ever existed? Then let those who skilled up put the points toward something else?
2004.12.11 03:07:32notifyThe Serpentis Mercenary is too far away, you need to be within 54625 meters of it but are actually 13193590680251 meters away. |

what does this have to do with anything? two wrongs don't make a right. and i don't play the "grass is greener" or the "lesser of two evils" game. my father told me a long time ago to worry about my actions and not those of others and not to pass the blame or justify my actions based on others' shortcomings. so, i will not bow down to anyone just because someone else sucks. what is this? the 50's?
this is an invalid arguement and i really wish people would stop comparing.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

This actually has some basis in the Star Trek movies. And I'm using the comparison only because EVE is fantasy, and so is Star Trek. You could actually see a slight distortion if you were close enough to a cloaked Klingon vessel. So if you are within 1km, or whatever you think is fair, allow a spatial distortion to be seen. Unfortunately there is no firing of weapons without a lock, another poorly thought out idea, so you can't take pot shots at the cloaked ship which would take damage at a greatly reduced rate. Or we could do like the other poster suggested and can cloaking and let us spend the skill points elsewhere.
I like the game. I'm worried about the following. CCP had some mediocre designers and programmers and made a mediocre game which has medicore success. They got a little lucky too and did some things right. Now they are back in "Christ, I wish I knew what I was doing" mode, and will break the game with Shiva. I hope not. I like the game. But as I first stated, that's why I want CCP to sell the game. I don't think they can pull it off. My opinion. You don't have to like it. But I'll bet CCP is thinking about selling the game too.

I think cloaking should work like this: your shields go totally down while cloaked, and they remain down for a few seconds after decloaking. The decloaking at a certain range is extremely stupid...what would cause the ship to decloak? There should be a slight ripple effect in the space around the cloaked ship when you are close to the ship. A ship should be able to lock cloaked ships if they can find them. You should be able to move in your cloak, but moving would cause large ripple effects around your ship. Appearing in local isn't that big of a deal really... Even if enemies think your cloaked, it would be pretty hard to find you anyway. When you warp your cloak should deactivate as you turn to face your warp destination. There should also be "decloaking fields" like the warp scramble fields. One more point... Three types of cloaks, cloaks for frigs, cloaks for cruisers, and cloaks for bs'.
Rant finished, and now the word cloak has lost all meaning to me ----------------------------------------------- CANADIAN |
