I wanna hear the voices of EVE players on the matter of getting a BS or an Elite Cruiser? They both offer great advantages. Any suggestions as to which road to take would be great.
Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |

I would get an elite cruiser, if i were you. Too bad us, common mortals can't get one yet, so we have to stick with good olde battleships.

Do you mean Battlecruisers or Destroyers?
Honestly, I would probably take either over a BS just 'cuz its something new and shiny to get blown up (and probably a bit cheaper than a BS).

Honestly, I would probably take either over a BS just 'cuz its something new and shiny to get blown up (and probably a bit cheaper than a BS).

AFAIK, destroyers are for frig killing mainly. Battlecruisers are cruisers with heavy armor/shielding and some more firepower.

first of all destroyers is not cruisers.. they are a middle class bewteen either frigs and cruisers or cruisers and bs.. cant remember tho. and I¦m pretty sure thay they are for killing frigs

Destroyer
Tired of trying to hit those pesky little swarms of drones and frigates with your heavy caliber cruise weapons but dont feel that you can afford to sacrifice weapon slots on small faster tracking weapons. This is when you need a Destroyer. Possesing the strength and durability of a cruiser and substantialy better velocity it main function is to act as escorts for larger assault ships. Possesing a large number of small weapon slots, it can engage close range threats or blast most smaller ships to pieces in seconds . Nimble yet packs the punch of the Long Limb just before Roe processing.
Battlecruisers
In tactical operations, heavy firepower is often required but cost issues might prohibit the deployment of full fledged battleships. Battlecruisers are dedicated gunships purely intended for offensive capabilities, where they take the armor and shielding from their bigger brothers while sacrificing total firepower available, but at the same time allowing a larger number of ships beind deployed. Navy captains still refer to them by their ancient name, Pocket Battleships, not that you would want one in your pocket ...
Faction Ships
Most special factions have their ships designed and manufactured to fit their roles and requirements. These ships are very hard to come by and usually involve very unorthodox ways of acquisition unless you have high ranking contacts within the factions that might have a blueprint or two available for the right price. There is of course an easier way for everything. And yes, it involves shooting.
Faction ships are usually weaker than their Empire counterparts but have more capacity and capacity recharge rate to make up their lack in defensive measures. Expect only to see limited run blueprints drop rarely from high level agents, Officers and in Complexes.

Well if it requires Cruiser Lvl 5 that's stupid. It shouldn't have higher requirements than a BS.
Good for CCP to add these classes...it's really stupid to have a price break between nine and sixty million from cruisers to Battleships with nothing in between.

Ok so my understanding is this..
destroyers will have large number of high-slots (7 or 8) but low powergrid, so you would only be able to fit medium guns at most.
battlecruisers will have low number of high slots (1-3?) but high number of med and/or low slots for shield or armor tanking.
That doesn't sound too bad:)

Yep thats abount how i understood it too. Destroyers will be able to escort BS in combat to kill the drones frigates and interceptors that are Soooooooooo hard to hit with 425mm rails and other enourmous guns. Battlecruisers will be "half a battleship" able to mount the big guns but not as expensive or powerful
