I find it interesting to see that before Mittens messed up big time that most of his lackeys where happy in the understanding that he had lots of wonderfull freinds at CCP and that EVE was great.
Now we see anti-CCP and anti-SONY propoganda appearing in the wake of events.
So now is the real campaign behind Goons to damage CCP as much as possible, and also to inadvertly take revenge against the player base. After all they "Love Us" remember.
Just wondering if the great scheme of things wether it has been realised by those posting that this kind of sentiment obviously wont go down well with CCP either or the fact that most Players are in fact quite enthused with CCP's future visions?
But please <3% do continue to shoot yourselves in the foot. Such lovely tears also.
I for one think Fanfest was amazing however and am eagerly awaiting what CCP have in store for us, that's even with the tainted advertising of children being allowed to drink booze at Fanfest.  |

Regular EVE players did not hurt CCP's reputation in front of Sony and thousands of players who were either present or watching a streaming video feed, a single person named Alexander Gianturco a.k.a "The Mittani" did that. Everyone should do well to remember it.

A small number of them have posted retractions but the rest are far too incompetent to have even bothered following up their stories. |

They did throw him under a bus. but it's generally recognized that they didn't have much of a choice after the story was sensationalized by the gaming media. There are varied degrees of blame leveled at various people dependent on the person, Mittani far from the least in most people's minds, but your basic premise that there is now some unified Goon front against CCP and Sony is blatantly false.

This isn't a black and white issue so stop trying to force it to be one.
Many goon believe CCP threw Mittani under a bus. Many goons support CCP. These are not necessarily mutually exclusive groups. Many goons have mixed feelings about Sony.
I personally think what CCP did to Mittens was a little too extreme. Removing him from the CSM for making an ass of himself at a player gathering is fine, especially after Mittani owned up to his mistake and was open to being kicked off the CSM. Banning his character for a month for an idiotic thing said outside of the game was dumb. I still think CCP has done some incredible things with the game in the past year and I really hope they continue to focus on spaceships in space.
I don't own a PS3 so will not be playing DUST. As long as Sony isn't planning on buying out CCP or forcing their way on to CCP's board, I'm completely indifferent to them.

The so called "gaming media" can all go get ******. In general Eve-Online specific news sources had rather good reporting, shockingly even EveNews 24. The rest of the media, people who don't even play Eve-Online and have no concept of the cruel, unforgiving universe we play in, have done a deplorable job with this situation that has gone a long way towards blowing it out of control. |

Regardless of the 30-day forced vacation, I doubt it was really that big a deal for Mittani. He could still easily take an active role in the corporation and delegate responsibilities as necessary. Wouldn't even have to login for things like that. I think the act itself - which I can admit was a tad unnecessary/extreme - was more of an issue than the results.
Besides, the Goons were never interested in destroying this game. EVE Online is unique for what it offers and it would be silly to do such a thing. They're more interested in having fun with people who get easily riled. And who can blame them? Look at all the drama that's taken place here. It'd be hard to resist stirring the pot. |

Read the forums, read the anti sony posts. Read the signatures of those posting, especially those who want to see Jita burn.
These are recent postings, so I think it's fair to speculate wether there is a growing anti sony sentiment and to explore options as to why that is so. The most vocal being Mittens whining in sound clouds etc about being misstreated by them and it being an influence on CCP.
My interest therefore is to see whether said influences are based on legitimate concerns or predjudice and wether it's a healthy trend to see encouraged or if there are other motivations.
If Goons go on record that this isnt the case then that understanding will help to waylay fears and sentiment. |
