Really doubt anything massive is going to be announced at fanfest for QR. They'll only have few days on SiSi to test it

Originally by: SecHaul I think the changes to lag are infinitely more useful than weapon grouping - what's the point of having a macro to do all these wonderful things if you can't get your modules to activate?
Seeing as how weapon grouping might help alleviate the lag (assuming, of course, that their description are accurate when it comes to how it reduces the number of database calls as well as client-server traffic), you probably want grouping for that exact reason…

Louis deGuerre said ôstackless IO and EVE64 of course ARE an expansion. The fact that it does not add more star systems and toyz and whatnot does not mean the code-base is not growing and improving.ö But itÆs not growing at the rate we are used to. We used to get stuff like stackless IO and EVE64 then a whole load of real playable content all at the same time. We have always in the past had stuff like stackless IO and new toys.
With the last expansion being so tiny and this one tiny as well Eve has had very little toys and content added this year, which is very bad. ThatÆs a great way to lose players as they get bored. This expansion and the last one are by far the two smallest expansions yet, from a player point of view. ThatÆs why so many people are unhappy.
Louis deGuerre said ôBy your line of reasoning (EVE having a much higher staff growth ratio than customer growth ratio) you apparently want to pay more :)ö His reasoning is the Eve staff has increase a lot but the new content has decrease a lot. Which makes no sense. We also pay more then we did this time last year.
The whining isnÆt truly epic, itÆs a valid concern.

Damn CCP for putting out yet another free expansion and continuing to update and balance their already awesome game.
Its not free.
The business model CCP chose was to offer "free updates" whilst charging a bit more for monthly subs.
Its like saying you get FREE NEW FILMS!!! on your subscription movie channel.

Not criticising CCP in the slightest for its approach to expansion packs (I applaud you! :) ), but this needs a little explaining:
I am sorry, but you cannot use this Stargate as you have not bought the Faction Warfare Expansion (insert Roleplayers version here)
Its called suspension of disbelief (remember that naughty film?.....) :)
If you can watch another player go through a gate that you cannot, because you have not bought an expansion, it destroys the immersion factor and EvE becomes WoW or half a dozen other online games......
I will let you draw your own conclusions!

TBH there isn't much in this update,
Most things on the "list" we already have, so unless they release a sheadload of stuff at fanfest, weapon grouping, timers and the Orca is the best we have to look forward to.

Oh and someone ought to teach the art department how to fit ships. The LOL unarmed Rohks in the QR splash screen are just silly. Those are rail boats, without any sign of turrets fitted. But I guess in highsec your BS escorts are better off unarmed

CCP do better, this SUCKS! what is in here? tweak? make our UI move around, ok... and this is really useful? not really everyone is used to the on we have! and speed nerf? do a patch for christs sake, youve nerfed before.
Just shows that CCP figured crap we cant boost industry they'll just make more isk so lets make loads of crap so that we dont look stupid by not making anything.
my opinion: most USELESS Expansion pack EVER!
amazed more people haven't seen it yet.... but fine, read the news stories. Tech companies in communication, asteroid 'accident' being put under wraps.
Dude T3 is coming, will need some new mineral which has been found in that rock, and ccp is not letting us see it on test because they want their fanfest surprise.

Well yes, a lot of folks are holding on to that hope, especially after all the hints dropped by Zulupark. But as even some of the unofficially announced content (ie the rest of Trinity) have been dropped, what are the chances T3 will be too.
Mind you, we'd all love to be wrong, and all are hoping it isn't just T3 = heat resistance.

Regarding the OP's rant... You contradict yourself -- however this probably stems from your ingrained belief that quantity = quality or usefulness. Which is why you probably also think that having a longer wiener automatically makes you a better lover.
Wrong.
What most people fail to reailse is, that "MOAR STUFFZ" paradigm is unsustainable, even in a virtual, ecologically invalid world. I believe there is also critical mass for MMOs, where amount of content becomes counter-productive and will start "poisoning" the game, leading eventually to its stagnation and/or collapse.
Then, usually, comes a revolution; a sudden shift that'll shatter the comfy sofa you're sitting in, comfortably, and gets you on your feet to walk around and try the amazing new things the brave new world will be offerring to you.
I'm not a MMO expert. EVE is the only MMO I played continuously. However, I strongly hope that CCP would have the courage, when the time comes, to shatter EVE to allow it to be reborn, more strong, beautiful, dark and harsh -- a home.

You really missed the point there, The parts of the unreleased update that fixed most of what you miss, we already have, So CCP adding them to the content of the update is just to buff it out some. \ I don't need sarcasme. facts work just as well.

no your right, all we want is for ccp to start calling them patches, not expansions, one implys a large content update one is acurate for what we are getting (IE over 50% fixes).

I find it somewhat annoying that someone talk about 'first signs of lack of creativity' when EVE has had 'small expansions' for as long as it has existed.
I mean how can you tell the first signs of lack of creativity in EVE when you obviously don't know EVE's history.
Not to say, I doubt changing the entire architecture of the game is any easy or 'unworthy' as you seem to imply. ____

Im dissappointed in this expansion.
The general reduction in content in patches each year and CCPs lack of commitment to "new stuff" they keep telling us about then move its release about randomly based on thier whims and what they think is cool from one week to the next. (apparently).

NeoShocker said "Aren't you guys jumping into the gun far too quick? Pretty sure all those are minor toys, while the bigger toys will be announced in fanfest." I hope that's true but it would be a stupid move. The news sites are already posting about Eve's new expansion and comments are flying around about how small it is. If new content is to be announced at Fanfest then the expansion shouldn't have been announced till then.
Right now CCP have just created bad publicity. That and various people said don't jump the gun with the EA expansion, surly more will be announced later as a surprise. Look how poor EA turned out. I am losing more and more faith in CCP. Can we have the old decent CCP back please.

I must confidently say that there is no company worst than EA for quality. Even if CCP standards is lower, it won't be even be as close for EA's bad reputation, maybe not as close as Sony Entertainment either. :)
I do agree about rushing the expansion news. CCP should have wait until fanfest then announce it from there. -----------------------------------
