I just rejoined Eve after a several month break. Before I left I had trained up for a Kronos. I have always wanted to fly this ship and now it is possible. However, I am in Caldari space and fight primarily Guristas type NPC. As the mauraders have low sensor strength, I am concerned that I will get frequently jammed.
Is there anyone out there who has used a Kronos against Gallente, and who would be able to share with me their fitting?
Thanks. |

I don't fly a Kronos at all, but I can tell you that missioning against Guristas is a giant waste of time, regardless of ship type. I got jammed often enough on my Machariel, a marauder without ECCM fit would be painful and fitting ECCM is a pain. Mission in better space. |

Hi there
You will be jammed very often and it will be no fun at all in a kronos if you fight guristas, your tank will struggle also as you will not be able to kill anything to reduce dps as it cannot be locked due to the jamming power of guristas.
If you want to use a Kronos then areas like dodixie, auvergne, aunia will be better and doing missions for the federation navy. You will be sensor dampened by the serpentis but this isnt as bad as being jammed.
Just my opinion anyway mate. |

I know this info isnt much good to you flying a kronos but the best way to mission optimally is to either use a nightmare/paladin in amarr space. Or a machariel/vargur in minmatar space. The beauty of minmatar space is its mainly angel missions and their EW is just target painting which doesnt effect you at all or stop you from killing them/locking them etc. |

You can use ECCM modules, which give a bonus to your ships sensor strength.
For Guri I you could fly something like this:
[Kronos, Guri] Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Core A-Type Large Armor Repairer Core B-Type Armor Kinetic Hardener Core B-Type Armor Thermic Hardener Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Tracking Computer II ECCM - Magnetometric II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L Small Tractor Beam II Small Tractor Beam II Salvager II
Large Hybrid Burst Aerator II Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hobgoblin II x5 Hammerhead II x5
~800 tank ~1k dps ~25 sensor str.
Core A repairer are very cheap atm... Pick th jamming NPC first, since the nerv it's really not a big deal to fight Guristas in Missions. Beltratting in Guri Space is painful...
good luck

I don't often fight Guristas, but I do often fight against the Caldari Navy. Yes, the jamming is painful in a Marauder. My solution to that is to dual box most missions. I'm perfectly happy to draw aggro with one ship, then blast all the jammers as quickly as possible with the other. Then, once the jammers are dead, I have two marauders to rain hate and discontent on the Caldari. Missions that would otherwise not be worth doing become very speedy with this technique.
The second best option is to use an Ishtar or Dominix with sentry drones. Then you just draw aggro and let the drones do the killing. |

Thanks to everyone for the replies. At the moment I am using my sentry domi until I have enough money to buy the Kronos, then maybe I will go back to living in Gallente space until I can find a more optimal ship for guristas. |

Most effective while jammed would be a Domi, because the drones keep on shooting the target you gave them. If they are set on Agressive they keep on killing NPC, but they also shoot triggers, so watch out. |

CNR, SNI: no need for ECCM, F.o.F's and Drones will solve any Guristas problems.

I very clearly remember back in the days when Marauders were being introduced and concerns were raised about the low sensor strenght that a GM responded that NPC jamming is purely chance based and not affected by your sensor strenght at all. The low sensor strenght was only there to handicap them in PvP. Of course my attempts to try and find that quote after all that time were in vain. But I'm surprised that nobody else brings this up, was this changed sometime after? I've been on a few breaks since then and might have missed it. |

It's been empirically proven that NPC jamming uses your sensor strength and their jam strength. ECCM most definitely helps, and its easily verifiable on your own. My personal verification was replacing 2 TCs on my Vargur with 2 ECCMs and noticing just how much less often I was jammed when running missions against Caldari State.
tl;dr: 2x ECCMs > 2 TCs when fighting jamming rats.

You could always get a Navy Mega or Vindi, you can squeeze similar dps out while getting sensor strength over 50 with ease. |

Yes, this was changed after the introduction of Marauders. It used to not matter that you fit ECCM. Now it does - which also means that Marauders are even more screwed by jamming than they were when first introduced. |

In all seriousness though, try gallente space. You're welcome to come mission with me if you need the standings, im out in fricoure. Love my Gallente Federation Navy ships! |

I like Kronos and Tenngu FoF missile for this. Tengu gets the aggro and orbits the Kronos. Slaughter... |

I have been flying Kronos a lot lately, and I can confirm that it's very good now in Gallente space and the only Guristas mission you get is Guristas side of World Collide. From my experience, Kronos clears Serpentis side of WC faster than Tengu can clear Guristas side, and generally faster vs. Serpentis/Angel missions compared to Tengu. Having said that though, Tengu has its advantages in missions like Blockade where you get sensor dampened a lot. But hey, you are asking about Kronos so this is off topic ;) |

I go with dual ECCM, sensor booster and a cap booster on my kronos. Works wonders. Havn't done any missions for quite some time now, but it's doable. I reckon it might be more fun against serps though, perhaps a blaster kronos could work there. |
