so i'm at work, and in order to install a game, like eve, or any other program i need the admin password, however...i can't get it  is there any way to copy/install eve that wouldn't require the exact "instalation procedure"?

Run the complete client off a zip disk maybe. It can be done on a computer you have full access to, although it could be there's still some admin setting on your work computer that would prevent it.

Copy your entire client from home to a flashdrive and run it off that, should be no problem as EVE doesn't require any registry entries to work.

Copy your entire client from home to a flashdrive and run it off that, should be no problem as EVE doesn't require any registry entries to work.

I thought there was one other step, or some other program that was needed in order to run it off a flash drive. I tried to run mine off a flashdrive at one point over the summer and it gave some error message. I think it had to do with caching.

I use a highspeed maxtor 4gb flashdrive for eve @ work.
Just remember to remove both the eve local folders when your done =)
*C:\Documents and Settings\**YOUUR NAME**\My Documents\EVE <--- Chatlogs
*C:\Documents and Settings\ASM\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP <--- Cache, portraits etc.

Ahhh excellent :) I have admin access to my machine at work lol but I want to keep it. This is good. I was just going to ask about the libraries.

you are all lazy bastards (obligatory as I don't do this =p) and eve is not worth the risk of getting fired
Many places will have a firewall that prevents you from logging into eve however there are ways that you can tunnel through this firewall. I do this at home as I live in shared accommodation with shared net (sharing it between 200+ people) and they committed the sin of blocking eve, and then when I talk to the guy he says he hasn't blocked it =s he just doesn't know how to run a server properly.
program I use is http tunnel which is free to use at low bandwidth but costs for high bandwidth
http://forums.http-tunnel.com/showthread.php?t=2476 has some posts about how to get it to work for eve.

really depends on what kind of industry you work in. I'm an IT (Mainframe Dinosaur), Professional working for a fortune 500 company and processing data that impacts other peoples money :)
We have federal guidelines as a result of this. Sarbanes-Oxley, ITIL, etc. (basically laws governing rules of operation), frown on things being executed on company resources (i.e. my machine(s) at work).
Most IT people working in big environments have this to live with on a day to day basis. P.C. Audits run all of the time as do system drops (software updates), etc.
It's one of the reasons everybody doesn't have administrator access to thier machines. It's all part of how the LAN guys keep thier networks running smoothly (or at least try to).
So yeah :)

lol at least we're on XP Professional, but we still use (as a corporate standard), IE 6.0 and MSN messenger 4.7 just to give you an idea.
The corporate world is slow to upgrade systems of this nature as what does it really buy them when you're working in a closed (non-public) environment.

There is no need to delete the files from the PC. If you use a switch then starting eve you can place the files were you want like on the flash drive with the install.
For example I keep them in the eve install directory so I can copy the lot between machines (including setting etc) for thne I am not at home.
This is that I have in a batch file replacing the normal eve short cut
"Set USERPROFILE=C:\games\Eve\
Start "eve" C:\games\Eve\eve.exe /end /LUA:OFF
exit"
ThHe LUA:off is the command the tells it to store the data in another location. The USERPROFILE specifies were.
There is a large number of threads going back a while that cover this in detail. The only thing to watch out for is the graphic setting saved in the cleint my not be compatabile with your work machine (can result in the client starting off the screen).
