Using a covert cyno in a cyno jammed system makes sense...
I guess blockade runners getting to use the portal counts as a fuel bay...

A fuel bay would make black ops good, and nobody really wants them to be good. They are the white elephants of eve. Even if they could jump into cyno-jammed systems they aren't really offering any value.

You obviously don't have patience and haven't tried to run operations behind enemy lines. They have few uses, but selective ones. Ones that can make them invaluable to a certain situation...

I've run plenty of ops behind enemy lines, I've never come across one that makes a black ops invaluable, in fact you must give an example, because I swear one does not exist.

A fuel bay is far different from allowing a hauler to use the portal. Namely, the ship jumping by itself, rather than having an alt. It also opens up the use of cap boosters. Currently, i cant use cap boosters to give me a better tank, due to the fact that i am filled to the brim with nitro iso.

my last information is from the live dev blog and there they stated that black ops fuel bays won't be implemented before spring 2009. Along with other special cargos for ships like capitals, orca and rorqual etc

This patch is actually 100% nerfs in contrast to trinity which was 100% boost. Any perceived boost in this patch really is a nerf. For example... Stealth bombers actually got speed boosted in this patch... meaning even more speed while cloaked; but the weaponry are horrid. So really stealth bombers got the chop.
I have a feeling that Midas 1.1 will have a nice big list of boosts and such.
Including fuel bays.
Unless this MArch expansion will be the huge patch that introduces these ORE bays, fuel bays, and ammo bays. ------------------------ Have you fed your slaves recently? -BRB Rens |

Edited by: cianide pro on 10/11/2008 09:05:23 I have been checking the last days if the black ops did got that fuel bay that was mentioned and till now no confirmation of that, not a word from any one from ccp that it is or its not coming and so when.
Its seems that this upgrade with the fancy name ''Quantum Rise'' aint nothing more then a patch and nerfing is what it does most, no new contents really. ( orca is the exception )
CSM - CCP Meeting 001 - 0004 Black Ops Improvements
Posted - 2008.07.10 13:50:00 Noah (CCP) indicated that CCP was aware that battleships with jumpdrives would become the ultimate ship, and to this end Black Ops ships were pre-nerfed.
Andrew (CSM Jade Constantine) noted that the range of the drive and the presence of cynojammers made the jumpdrive capability virtually useless. Another problem is the limited amount of fuel that can be carried.
Bane (CSM Bane Glorioius) added to this that due to the fuel taking up large amounts of cargo space, loot from successful operations often cannot be hauled back to friendly territory.
Noah (CCP) commented that a Fuel Bay can be added, so that fuel no longer takes up cargo space, or that specialized haulers could perhaps be used to haul the loot back or bring in supplies. CCP will also look at the issue with cynojammers. Jump range might be looked into but is of a lower concern, otherwise Black Ops ships might become too competitive with capital ships.
So we are 4 months further and I guess ccp had enough time to look into this and they come up with the idea of the specialized haulers could be used to bring in supplies and ,what its more important, ANOHTER paying customer is needed for this refueling.
We all understand that ccp needs to make money and so its commercial orientated, new skills so people needs to keep up training and such is an logical step to do so, but you can go to far in this, and this is just such an example, ccp had the choice between a black ops extra fuel bay so it can be self suportive or another character needs to be used for this refueling, obvious the second choice is comercialy more interesting.
But its a headack to depending on cyno alts and refuel alt just to use a ship ingame that aint that great in the first place.
I dont know, I will have a word with some of my mates ingame but atm I feel more for stopping playing all together and see if in the next months ( next patch/upgrade) something improves as to see if I come back or not as I dont see anything intersting for me atm ingame to go for. The only thing I see is nerf, nerf, and pre-nerf, this is coming and that is coming, walking in stations ( how long this option is talked about ) and now t3 personalizing ships. Talking about it is all I see

I was disappointed to see Black ops remaining useless after this patch, but its cool because now you have certificates to show what skills you have.

Good to hear it is not forgotten, please also don't forget the feature that covert cynos should ignore cyno jammers, it is at least as important as the fuel bay for the Black Ops to function properly.
But you have to understand the frustration of some people including me that a patch that effectively nerfs small gang guerrilla style warfare fails to include a long overdue fix for the Black Ops which has guerrilla warfare basically written all over it, I really hope we don't have to wait for the next big expansion for this.

If you put a fuel bay on the black ops, you would have to do it with all the other jump drive ships. Just slap a fuel reduction bonus on the ship. 20% per black ops level or something. Also how about covert ops cloak too ;)

In all honestly, im not entirely sure on my source - However, had the thought in my head that it was. And with the blockade runner love, i gathered that this was going to be the black ops love patch. :(
But thanks for the update. And if you can give one of the programmers my love, then i will pay for all of your beers if im at next years fanfest!

It was actually mentioned in one of the live dev blogs, and if im not totally of here, also said in that mega thread that Zulupark had, that the fix would maybe come into this patch...
If not it would come in one of the following patches that comes out usually after a big expansions where you fix some minor issues.

In your own live dev blog you said that you didn't think Guerrilla warfare would die due to alternative strategies such as enhance in black ops ships. Even if you didn't explicitly say it would come with this patch you inferred that we would be given alternatives such as black ops enhancements.
I think this is really quite unfair. Black ops were actually the only example of an "alternative" given in response to the question about the future of guerrilla warfare in Eve, and the enhancements aren't even in the patch. So what does that say about guerrilla warfare in Eve now?
Please don't give us more "small objectives" like 15,000,000 hitpoint cyno jammers at doom POS in the next patch.
