Edited by: Arnold Kruger on 08/11/2008 13:35:15 Just read through the patchnotes for Quantum Rise. I notice that there is no mention of storefronts.
Did I miss an announcement or something? A quick google "site:" search revealed nothing. - - SUPERIOR SYSTEMS: BPO sales, research, copying, and delivery! |

They're not ready and not going in in QR, can't remember where I saw a dev post about it, probably like general discussion where they're well hidden.
eve-search.com has a dev post finder ;)

Honestly store fronts in a market based game completely suck. Its ok in a game where you dont buy new gear all the time and dont have eleborate material chains, but it would ruin EVE.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

I think store fronts have a place,
0.0 alliance stations are one of the places.
I like the idea of having the new players have a preset ship with mods that they are to use. Its very simply and I think a good way to help them learn what to fit and how to fight in fleets.

Also internal stores for corp members only. Possibly using player corp loyalty points instead of ISK. If so, it would be ideal if the CEO could define a hierarchy of ranks within his corporation (I honestly don't know if this part is already possible) and then assign a monthly or weekly LP salary to each rank.

We felt storefronts were not in a good enough state to release and needed a lot more work before we would be happy with the implementation and as such they will not be in Quantum Rise.

Actually, I'm really looking forward to being able to buy fitted and ready to go ships.
One of the biggest hastles of pvp is getting all the pieces for new ships. I'd expect storefronts to be a big hit in pvp areas.

And it was actually some of us were going to try and provide.
Not including storefronts in game means that corps like mine will have to develop IGB sites instead. The full functionality of storefronts as seen on SiSi 2-3 weeks ago provided at least the rudimentary functionality needed and the offers meant corps didn't have to have it all on hand to sell; but could instead quick turn orders.
Sadly I don't see storefronts being massively tested on SiSi like combat changes being possible; we just aren't going to see the market effect there or even here.
By the way... what % premium are you willing to pay for pre-fitted/pre-packaged ships over their component market value?
It is excellent for a market driven economy. You get to choose your supplier and thus not buy from your enemies or only buy from your friends.

I'd only pay 1-2% extra. If a storefront is setup in high sec / lo sec border, I can pick up the parts and ship myself within 4 jumps for cheaper. It'd have to be a true convenience (low/0.0) to put a premium on the setups. But then that encourages station camping, etc.

See I was thinking of putting all the rigs/mods/ship with the standard setup in a store front in low sec bordering 0.0
But I am or won't do it for less than 20% mark up. Just too much risk if the pay isn't there. Also I hope that they don't kill the log off because losing a freighter would suck.
