Are they RE-TRADEABLE or instantly applied on purchase ? I smell shedloads of ISK if they are retradeable

They are retradable. Both on the market and by contract. But you cannot haul them. They are bound to stay in the station they were created into.
Yes: I also smell shedloads of ISK. And I think those that wanted them to be market tradable because this would fix the 'sellers greed' problem are in for a surprise bigger than the one the whining miners had when they succeeded in having CCP add aggression for jetcan looters.

The "no hauling" part isn't much of a problem... I mean, the vast majority will be in Jita IV-4 CN station anyway And creating a "The Forge" GTC token / pilot license / whatever purchase alt in one of your slots (or relocating one of your 3 alts in The Forge if all slots are already full) shouldn't be much of an issue...

'Sellers greed' gets even better now. You can just drop em to market and watch farmers cry.
I see dreams of buying all the GTC's at the market and throwing them back to market with extra 200 M ISK on their price

That was probably the more interesting question that I hadn't seen asked, but I have another.
Anyone know if they will be available only in-game? Is there any provision for lapsed accounts to buy a token?
If not it could be a bit chicken and egg (needing to get in-game to buy a token so you can be in-game again).

The old website secure trade system is not being taken out - it will just be used a bit less.

As far as I've read, you can still buy them on forums in the normal way. The ingame token is just an additional method of selling them. I surmise the ones on forums will get directly credited to the account as they are now, but I also suspect there will be less offerings on forums since market will get a better isk price, especially if the gtc token market becomes anything like the moon mineral market. Having the gtc tokens being retradeable is a pretty bone headed move especially when they claim they added the method to get a handle on the gtc price.

You know, I'm betting this could really backfire and we will see a whole slew of RMT ads in local. It's been pretty quiet lately, but it could really heat up again. That I'm sure they aren't aware of. Devs don't seem to think more than 1 move ahead, as I suspect they all suck at chess and critical thinking.

Mark the word "SEEMS" in the thread title, as I was kind of surprised I didn't see it yet. Meh... yeah... seems you're right. I just missed it somehow, as it slipped off the first page. I mean, such an issue, you'd THINK it would keep on the front page due to sheer talk volume.
Oh well...

If they are retradable, the only problem I see is if you have to buy one while someone is attempting price fixing. Hopefully the volume of licenses traded is too large for price fixing to work.

When I purchased one last month there was a disclaimer in the account management about how the time would be applied to the account there by "using" the GTC.
Unless something changed very recently its a 1 time transaction.

Its about INGAME 30-day pilot licences... not the OUTOFGAME GTC trades over the forums.

I guess the other big question is: Can they be applied after your account runs out? If one has one in a hanger? Or if one still has to buy one?

They cant. If account is expired the standard 'old' method of buying 60d gtc from forums should be used as far as I understand.

Edited by: AnakieNine on 12/11/2008 11:51:29 The forum only works if you have 2 accounts. After your account expires you cant use it on the forum anymore as the Username and password fails. Its always been a royal pain.
Definately a case of the chicken or the egg. Its time to start planing account time in advance since there will be even less out of game GTC.
CPP needs to display the number of days remaining on the account when you log in. That and display the EVE time clock on the connection page. Its a pain trying to work out when something should be back up.

Well.. for better or worse these are in-game now. I can see this being a huuuuge market manipulation hotspot; however it will take many tens of billions, possibly even hundred of billions, to achieve anything except losing a lot of money.
I'll be watching, that's for sure.

There is atm around 15 of them for sale in Jita at 333 mil / unit approx and many lowball buy orders and one 3 day buy order at 275 mil for 100 of them. Rest of the buy orders are considerably lower. In time difference between buy and sell orders will get a bit thinner most likely but they already seem to be relatively close to possible 'stable' prices.
They are located under trade goods/pilot licences.
Looks quite convinient - just buy it and activate remotely. So should this increase number of GTC users it might actually drive price a bit upwards in long term.

So as a -10 Pirate how would I go about buying one from Jita and using it to extend my account? As I can't actually get to Jita, and a hauler alt can't move it for me. |

Buy it from low sec and then activate remotely (via your assets window) ? You do not need to go to jita to use it.

That would work if there were any for sale within range of the lowsec I live in. Even if there was you can bet that it would be far more expensive than Jita.
It seems to me this system is highly unfair to characters that choose my profession (and anyone that lives outside of the Jita region who will have to travel to buy competitive GTC). Why should the cost to play the game be dependant on the life I choose in Eve, or how far from Jita I want to play. At least the old system was fair, but I'd expect the forum GTC prices to be rising now.
Also, I think this change is going to replace the traffic in Jita that was lost by moving the Missions Agents out. |

Or you could setup "Want to buy" contract for the in-game object at a station you *can* reach. Set it high enough and someone will fly there and fill the order. Contracts are visible across all of Eve y'know.

It would need to be for an order of 2 of them, since they can't be moved and the creation process generates 2 PLEXs. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

An order for 2 would be useful, but not completely necessary. If the contract for the first PLEX was profitable enough, then the seller could simply speculate that putting the 2nd PLEX on the open market for an aggressive price would still yield a combined profit worth his (or her) while.
