Edited by: Forranz on 29/12/2008 08:04:30 I get this same problem as well. I am running windowed mode on vista. Random times each time. This started a few days ago for me and was really aggressive when it did it (like every 20 mins) now it has started being random.
The only thing that stuck out was this:
7 182 ms 256 ms 270 ms TenGE13-2.br02.lax04.pccwbtn.net [63.218.51.17] 8 156 ms 158 ms 160 ms telecity.ge9-9.br02.ldn01.pccwbtn.net [63.218.13.222] 9 171 ms 161 ms 159 ms 532-dist65-01.lon3.telecity.net [217.20.44.226] 10 190 ms 197 ms 199 ms ipt-ccp-games-1-as35834.lon3.telecity.net [217.20.44.138] 11 202 ms 203 ms 203 ms 87.237.38.200 -
The rest was really low ms (>70)

So far I have gotten the spam disconnects to stop even though I set my router to allow 26000. -
I use Windows Vista: Ultimate, Press Windows Key + R. I put in: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
I installed Eve on my E drive, so I looked for this directory: e_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility if its on your C drive, it'll be c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility. Click on the directory, then click on settings, then the prefs.ini file. Where it says port, change it to 3724 instead of 26000. Then start up your Eve client and you should be using the other port.
I STILL personally believe its CCPs fault, as I see my ping double once it hits telecity and even then it varies from 120-750.

For those of you that use routers - Make sure that your router is allowing 3724 & 26000 to your computer based upon what port you are using. It's really amusing though. After I got this fixed (I've had petitions open for a bit now), I set the rating to 0 and got a reply extremely quick. Found it funny Could just be coincidence

I'm unsure as to if this is allowed, but this is what was told to me:
Hi there,
Those issues are being investigated and worked on by our developers. To find out what is causing you to crash or drop from the server we will need some more information about your computer a log of your connectivity with the server. That will enable us to better analyze why this is happening to you and hopefully enable us to take the actions required to fix it.
The first thing I would like to you try is to restart your router and see if you still experience this problem after that. To make sure that your router is completely restarted and refreshed it would be best if you could unplug it from the power source and make sure to wait at least 30 seconds before plugging it in and turning it on again.
In order to thoroughly test your connection to the EVE server then I recommend that you download a program called pingplotter which is available here http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_2.exe If you are running a hardware firewall (SPI Firewall) on your router you will need to disable it, as otherwise this program won't work. After starting up pingplotter do the following in the program:
1) Under "Address to trace" put the following value in the box: 87.237.38.200 2) In the bottom left corner in the box "# of times to trace" put the value 1500 3) In the bottom left corner in the box "Trace Intervals" change it to 2.5 seconds 4) In the bottom left corner in the box "Samples to include" change it to 1500. 5) Click on "Trace" button in the bottom left corner.
When it's completed save it as the sample set ( pp2 ). Once you have saved the file, you can attach it to the petition through the "My petitions" interface on our website and send us.
Once we have this information we will hopefully be able to determine the cause of this problem.

With all these issues and a variant of ISPs (Unless we all use the same ISP), more than likely CCP should look at their own ISP. However, I am sure they will state that their end is fine.. since they can play on their end.
The only thing I find wrong with their copy/paste reply is that if we know WHEN this is going to happen we could plan around it.

Maybe they only respond to certain threads once. Anyhow, I changed my port to 26000 and I'm not in empire so I don't have the lag/disconnect as often anymore.. even though the problem IS with Eve/Telecity.

Originally by: Kayl Breinhar It's not a question of whether sending traceroute logs is "needed" or not - the problem is CCP told us to do it and from that point have said nothing. No one knows if they're acting on our information or not, but nearly twenty pages of nothing definitely points to the "not" category.
It was largely "fixed" for me before the patch, and has since cropped up again. If the problem is "we have a contract with Telecity and can't break it," TELL us that, and then light a fire under Telecity to fix the problem. Christ...
imho they probably can't afford to. Keep in mind that their monetary system collapsed not too long ago.. my best guess is that they post in a thread once and "forget" about it OR rely on bug reports sent in rather than reading the forums. Could be that they are too busy, or don't have enough staff, who knows.

They already replied to this thread ONCE so it's unnecessary for them to reply again.
