I have complete got rid of my socked closed issues. Only time this happen now is when the server crashes.
What did I do. Upgraded to Windows 7, Upgrade my router to an Asus RT-N16 form a Linksys BEFSX41 Router - AT&T is my ISP at 6 MBPS connection.
Other Thoughts: I do believe this issue core problem is in the router itself. I stopped suggesting using Linksys/Cisco Routers at all now. Find another brand with a better firewall, with better spec to handle the load of your network. The core issue here is packed loss, the connection get cut between your PC and the game server. Now I do stress to people to contact their ISP and ask about their modem or how they get on the web. It could be there is another firewall or device causing the problem.

Originally by: halonicholas I have been having this crap ever since dominion. On 3 computers on both wired and wireless and on xp vista and windows 7.i have found nothing to really help. i belive this is a ccp problem not A isp one. it is getting almost unplayable. i was running some level 4s and it would constantly give me "socket closed" i have sent a petition and they said it isnt there fault. CCP please admit its yours problem and fix it. i dont care if you go bak before dominion just fix it already.
You don't understand the Internet very well then, Some ISP connection device like a modem or wireless bridges have build in firewalls. I truly believe that this a a ROUTER issue, but again the ISP will work with you to resolve the problem. If they don't drop them like a ton of veldspar.

Originally by: Tribisha This is NOT a router problem. Anyone who says it is, is just full of it and shouldn't be handing out answers to things they know nothing about. This may be an ISP router problem yes, granted.. but definitely not a home network router problem.
How is it not a router issue. What proof you do have that it isn't, I switch from a Linksys BEFSX41 Router to an Asus RT-N16 Router and my socket closed issue went away.
