Seriously. You're not comparing an off-game resource as a reason for no in-game feature?
My opinions represent the opinions of my corporation completely. I'm the CEO damnit. |

Because apparently armor tankers fly with their shields off, like Tie fighters. Didn't you read the armor repairer penalty? -100% to shield capacity.
And while you're at it don't train Mechanic to 5. It's obviously of no benefit to any tank, since it doesn't apply to shields or armor.

Different people will have different benefits from them, depending on their circumstances: 1. Give people provable bragging rights! 2. Aid corps when recruiting. 3. Provide aims for players. 4. Provide guidance for players.
...and some people will not use them at all. They're no different from most other EVE features in this....
Between certificates and Walking In Stations, WiS is a far more useless feature..... (see what I did there?)
Besides, being able to prove you're and Elite Hull Tanker is kinda cool

It's an added feature, it doesn't slowdown your pc/steal your phone/kill your cat, if you don't like it, don't use it, it's not like the certificate system is popping up every 5 seconds saying "USE ME! YOU MUST USE ME NOW!".
The problem the OP described is probably a bug, just report it and be on your way.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
For the love of all that is good, could you children stop complaining about everything?
I used to read these forums a lot. Now I can only stomach two or three threads of the same people back-slapping or condescending or talking complete rubbish before I feel sick.
The day after the expansion, finding a thread like this really makes me question the OP's intentions.
Could all you rival software developers just f**k off, and let CCP concentrate on my game???
Btw, nice patch ;)

Personally, I found that Certificates (a.k.a. having poor man's EVEMon skill planning inside EVE) were one of the better changes in this patch, they just need some more polishing/care.
This, tbh. There will be tweaks and adjustments as necessary.
I'm just glad they gave people an option outside of API because I don't like the idea of the api key AT ALL. ------- CEO of Maids. No I didn't pick the name. I've grown rather fond of it though.Poor PR in progress!

They have been implemented stupidly.
First of all, the prerequisites for a lot of the certs don't match the gear that players use. You would think that "basic" is at the level of a newbie that is just barely able to use the T1 item, "standard" is support skills trained to where they're decent for battleship defense/use, "advanced" would be the ability to use T2 modules, and "expert" would be skills at 5. But CCP's randomly put together some idiotic combinations of skills and are calling a half-assed idiotic patch job a "feature".
And second, it wasn't a needed feature, it was just something they could use to pad their list of "features" for this bug-fixing patch (it's not an expansion). As such, before it's even remotely useful they should add two more layers of privacy to it, like we've requested previously: "corp can view" and "alliance can view".
