with 13 million skill points, I am not asking for ANY realism in this game. BUT, this is my 5th hour on the same frigate NPC...
I have well over 1000 logs of the same NPC frigate at my optimal hit range of pure 100% misses...
I am only doing this to see how many hours it takes for a person with over 13 million skill points to kill a single small frigate NPC with a small 25k bounty...
I have now burned through 3k of ammo and the log is endless... of ALL misses. semi realistically I should of won a 1 in a trillion lottery and hit it once (if even on pure accident)
What gives? |

heh well its like rolling a dice maybe? even if the odds are 1 in 6, there is still a chance you will never roll a 6 per say.
Also would help if you formulated your argument around what gun you were using, what ammo, what range, what type of ship, and how fast it was nromally flying and at what transverse (straight at you or side to side orbiting you etc).

7 425mm's at my optimal range of 65k
burning through 6.5k of Iridium ammo
he finally warped out
I woulda after a half an hour but I am interested at exactly what CCP's plans are for us 13k mil skill point clients
very interesting...
maybe go back to missions I guess

It's called common sense...Most characters with 13m skillpoints are a little smarter than to waste that much ammo. You are using big guns, that will hit big ships. If you want to hit little ships, you need big guns.
Or you can be a logical "veteren" of this game, and use a Large Smartbomb or Drones. (Like the rest of us)

It has already been stated that it will be even harder to have large turrets vs. frigates yet much easier to hit BS' and cruisers in this update.

I too am baffled at why CCP continues to make npc superior to pc. It should be a viable way to make money in eve and npc bs should be a plus for those experienced enough to go to 0.0 to hunt them.
Instead they continue to make npcing too difficult to really make it worth undertaking, so back to mining for some, but in my case, I pvp which makes the game one dimensionable again.
I wish they would stop punishing the experienced players, we have earned the right to make a decent profit in this game by npc hunting, CCP should show the old timers a little support as we have done for them by staying through all the problems over the past year.
If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right. |

Funny I use 4 - 425mm on my Megathon and only have 5.5 Mil skill points and I hit frigates at 55K 1 in 3 times for average 100pts of damage.
Maybe you should try Thorium ammo and get closer...? 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

my drones were all killed with in seconds of launch
as for common sense... mine states clearly "OMG its a BS everyone get the hell out of here..." not "oh, *yawn* another BS... well.... might as well kill it... nah... too easy and too boring..."
as for me wasting that much ammo I thought I clearly stated that I did it to see exactly what is up... after over 6k of ammo into it, it warped away.
I understand that it should prolly be alot harder and maybe take twice as much time and twice as much ammo. But, to be perfectly immune is an entirely different thing altogether. |

Yeah its horrible, but with the new accuracy changes, you need to fit something smaller*, and to compound that, if you do manage to hit them, the damage is poor. I just shoot at them with one round to make them come within 7k and then release the drones, I dont lose any, and they die within minutes, its a pain in the ass, I should be able to take them out with my guns when my guns more than out track them, but I guess you gotta live with the changes because the devs wont change anything anytime soon.
*=(which doesnt make much sense when you are at long range, because put it this way, at 60km out, no matter how fast the frigate is traveling, their angular velocity will not overcome the radian tracking, it just shouldnt happen, its like a hockey goalie cutting down the angle by coming out of the net, they move left or right just a bit, and wind up taking away an extremely large portion of the net)
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

naw, sounds more like he is an idiot. he's testing the wrong type of gun against a ship it is not supposed to hit, then complains about it as if it is some big surprise... even though we were all warned way ahead of time that the last couple patches would change large weaps in this way.
optimal doesn't mean squat if u don't have enough tracking. and now you are supposed to use smaller guns for smaller ships.
simple.
his post is an embarrasment for all the rest of us that have 13mil skill points;)

Why thank you perfect stranger. I am pretty sure you will have a long life with your respect of people. As for your assumption that you speak for all the people with 13 mil+ skill points I have 0 respect for you and those you actually speak for.
I would ask you to quit calling me names, child. Also, never feel welcome to respond to any of my posts. Ask mommy and daddy what you should do, should you ever find one of my posts, and I am sure they will have you just move along to the next post and act poorly with the next poor chap that has the misfortune to have ANY of your attention. |

I guess you weren't around when TomB (a CCP dev) created a bunch of threads and dev blogs explaining the new tracking formula and balance changes for turrets against smaller craft.
In a nutshell, big guns can't hit small ships worth ****.
Also, signature radius plays a major role in accuracy. Frigates have a signature radius of 40, while battleship-sized weapons have a signature resolution of 400.
I'd tell you to use drones, but it would sound like a broken record at this point.
