Okay. before I start I¦m not talking about how much dmg they give or can take or anything.. Its the weapon they use range... I met 1 commodore (1.5mil) and 2x enforcers (750k) serpentis npc¦s. Now they use blasters.. what got me thinking if how the hell can a ship whit ion¦s and neutrons whit a optimal range at 3-6km and have a hard time hitting at 15km (if players use them) hit a target 30km away thats moving 800m/s+ and make hits at 100+ everytime... it just dont seem right that a npc ship that uses close range guns can hit on 30km. Now lost my tempest on this but **** happenes and dont care about that, but I do care about on what range npc¦s can hit becurse they drop guns that players cant hit **** whit on 15-20km but npc¦s hit everytime.... anyone else noticed this ?

The drop doesn't mean they are using that item. NPC cruisers and battleships also drop cargo expanders, but that doesn't mean they are using them;)
Try checking www.eve-db.com to see what optimal range they have.

Yeah, the Serps do seem to hit from the moment they open fire.
Executors are the worst, as they use Electron Blasters, maintain an orbit of 30+ KM, and hit you every single time and WELL.

Certain NPcs are known to be firing t2 missiles, whats to say those rats aren't using t2 turrets?

if you press look at on a npc and look for what guns they are using you can see they are using blasters. they allways have and never drop any other guns than blasters

no kidding, I'm losing all my drones really fast because the serps I'm fighting are hitting them every time even thogh they are spossed to be hard to hit
2004.12.11 03:07:32notifyThe Serpentis Mercenary is too far away, you need to be within 54625 meters of it but are actually 13193590680251 meters away. |

Not just wrong falloff, the Guardian Executor orbits at roughly 10 times what it used to (2 patches ago).

Executor uses Railgun now, Serpentis battleships all had blasters before and no threat to players good at keeping at range.

I just checked, it still drops Electrons and appears to have them on its hull. Something overlooked? ;)

Slarty: What you're seeing on it's hull is Dual 250mm railguns, they look similar to electron but there are differences. The loot drops are probably an oversight, though.

I know my Dual 250's from my Electrons ;).
The barrels of the Dual 250's are very small, and barely poke out, whereas the twin barrels of the electron are long and distinct.
Its an Electron or im blind :)

Yeah I've definatly noticed the blasters on Serpentis being bugged. Elders were hitting me for 150 damage per second at 60km, they were far more dangerous than even the commanders.

That might explain stuff though. I find the elders a lot more scary than 750k enforcers using blasters - and I mean a lot. Having 2 elders at 30km is worse than 2 close-range serpentis at 3km, it seems. Not quite sure about this, but elders seems to do some good damage.

What about this:
CCP give the NPC-KI the ability to use every aviable items !
In the Downtime CCP scans the player database for all activ ships and filters all ships with mining lasers and non-fitted out.
Now the NPC-Drones randomly got a fitting from these playershippool

Edited by: Maule on 08/07/2004 10:52:07 Before the last few patch¦s the serpentis bs have used: Commodore: neutrons, Elder: Rails, Enforcer: Ion¦s and executer: electrons. and it has allways been (or was) like this since the first castor patch

Hey, TomB!
See this here Guardian Executor. Those don't look like any kind of rails to me! Infact, I could have sworn they were Electron Blasters. This very NPC even dropped for me a nice Modal Electron.
Still sure about what you said? ;)

NPC's are un-balanced, and prolly always will be because they can't think, so to make up for the fact they can't think their given good weapons, good shield tanking, good armor tanking, and infinite cap, and mwd.
Now most players can balance 3 of the 5 above with good skills. I personally wouldn't use a mwd in combat as it penalises the cap too much. This actually puts the PC's at a bigger disadvantage than the NPC's. And proj's have the advantage they use very little cap.
The NPC's got player tracking which has made them a bit harder. Give them player cap as well, everyone know cap means everything in Eve without it your dead, and rats have infinite! Its also disappointing to see every slot fitted with a gun when it exceeds the max number of gun slots available and there firing missiles on top of that. (Take a look at a npc phoon in min space, it's got 4 gun-slots and 8 guns mounted)
These may just be graphics, but if your going to make NPC's more realistic its not just the damage, repair rate, speed that count. Your skins also need working on as the npc skins reverts to normal when you zoom camera out too far when doing look at. -----------

Yes this medium loot is quite annoying. I realize they can't all drop 6M in regular modules and 10 in named stuff - but geez, 90% is medium. I'd rather see them drop 0-2 good items instead of 0 good and 6 crap.
