That is because an EvE "Expansion" is perhaps 5% actual new content and 95% ship/structure/window attribute updates and fixes whereas a WoW expansion is actually an expansion.
I doubt anybody would be playing EvE anymore if CCP asked money for their patches... I mean expansions... -------------- I R Not Completely Amazing, But I R Mostly Amazing |

The great irony being: If it was practical to make the expansion optional, CCP could probably got a lot of people to pay ú25 to NOT have it.

This is possibly the worst MMO comparison I have ever seen... An EVE expansion is like a WoW major patch at best, the WoW expansion completely blows the latest EVE "expansion" out of the water in terms of new content, game mechanics updates, etc. Now I stopped playing WoW about a year ago, so I don't have first hand experience with what is in the new expansion, but just the early leaks and previews of WotLK that were available at that time would make the QR patch look tiny in comparison.
That being said, CCP has nowhere near the resources that are available to Blizzard for content development - WoW expansions likely represent at least a year (maybe two) of work done by a team with more employees than all of the developers for CCP put together. They are also very different games that don't really lend themselves well to this type of comparison, to add a new "class" to EVE you would need to add basically an entirely new race with a variety of ships and a unique fighting style. You would also need to throw in a new weapon type, some new types of modules and the relevant skills to operate them and improve their performance.

I'm sorry but the expansion doesn't even stand up to the past 2 years of work CCP has dont. sure this expansino sucks, but it's only 6 months of work. take the past 2 years into acount, that's 4 expansions for wow's one. CCP had about 100 people working on eve compared to wows 30-40.

Eve "expansions" are roughly alittle under half of a WoW "patch". |

I'm sorry, but so far from what I've seen in EVE in terms of PvE content it doesn't compare at all in any way to WoW... the quests in WoW are much more involving, relevant and entertaining than the equivalent missions in EVE, which are basically just the same thing recycled over and over again. Missions in EVE are basically just mining expeditions where the asteroids shoot back at you. Graphically the zones in WoW blow anything that EVE has to offer out of the water, both in quantity and quality. The AI in WoW are also a lot more interesting and varied - both graphically and in terms of their skills and abilities. In EVE its basically just the same recycled pirates and rogue drones, with stronger NPCs having more tank and more DPS, with a bigger bounty and more loot.
Also, as much as I hate to say it, from a lore perspective WoW meshes together much better than EVE does. In EVE there are vast expanses of space that are just there with no real purpose other than to provide room for a growing player base, while every zone in WoW has a back story and a purpose in the game. While the back story for EVE is interesting and compelling, it just hasn't been woven into the game the same way that the story in WoW has.
The thing that really makes EVE unique is the very real and sometimes harsh reality that you are forced to interact and compete with other players. EVE also has a very unique take on the evolving universe - in a game like WoW the universe is pretty much set in stone and you can't do anything to change it, while in EVE it is much more flexible. You also aren't forced to kill things to level up and access higher level content in EVE, you can play the game in a variety of different ways and "leveling up" is more a matter of patience than anything else. Lets also not forget that EVE is based in a sci-fi universe instead of the done to death fantasy universe. But what is important to note about all these things that make EVE a quality, noteworthy game is that they have largely been in the game since it was conceived, most improvements since then have basically been an attempt to make the game more appealing to the masses.
But as I said before you really need to take into account that Blizzard has easily 100x the resources at its disposal as CCP does. MMOGs really take the expression "economy of scale" to a whole new level, and you really can't expect EVE (or most other games for that matter) to compete in any way with WoW when it comes to content development. |

no ofence but wow as a game hasn't really changed in the past 4 years. sure it's different, but it just goes in circles while eve goes forward.

Quit shattering the bubble with logic.
As far as PvE, yea, WoW might be great for that. But it still pales in comparison to virtually any single player RPG coming out these days. |

Wait what?
This looks like a lot more than 30-40 people to me. |
