What should I have for a more PVE-focused Ferox? Prefer more rails than missiles btw. And no: "Go Drake, its better" posts. Seriously.

Should be rather straightforward.
Full rack of rails, full rack of mag stabs. You're likely to need some kind of fitting mod to fit a full rack of 250mm's.
Mids go to a tank as far as possible. Rest is cap and target painters/webs. 5 damage drones, specific to the opponent. Rigs can really be chosen as pleases. |

Above doesn't work too well.
Is this PvE setup for missions, complexes, or belt rats? 250mm's are fine when you can dictate your range, but pointless otherwise. |

aye, for pve you might be better off with 150's. Better tracking, less grid, simlilar dps and u can make up for any defficit with dmg rigs + optimal rigs.
Youll need an ab and somekind of passive tank.
Oh n gratz on the ferox, it was my first mission runing ship before grudgingly upgrading to a raven, the drake way is boring :) |

/me remembers the days of the HML Ferox before the drake
200mm or dual 150mm rails if you're set on using rails, 250mm rails use up way too much powergrid on the Ferox.
I know you said no "Go-Drake" posts, but tbh I have 10mil SP in Gunnery and 2.5mil in missiles, and my Drake is better for missions and ratting than my Ferox ever was ------------

Make sure to have an afterburner, as it will help you reduce incoming damage and allow you to keep the NPCs at a good range for you to kill them.

If you don't mind spending 80 mil on ship + fittings, I'd recommend this setup:
[Ferox, PVE] 1x Capacitor Flux Coil II 3x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
1x Pithi A-Type Small Shield Booster 2x Invulnerability Field II 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II 1x Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed
6x 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 1x Drone Link Augmentor I
2x Capacitor Control Circuit I 1x Hybrid Locus Coordinator I
5x Hobgoblin II
200+ DPS (300+ with drones) out to 20km against anything cruiser and up, tanks about the same.

"PVE" is too vague.
A lvl 3 set up is not at all the same as a belt ratter.
For lvl 3sa rack of 250s with 2 assult launchers and an active tank will do them the quickest.
For belt ratting bet blasters. |

And remember, on new ships - Tank-before-Gank. See how the new ship handles and how much abuse it can take, before you start increasing the damage dealt (st sacrifice of tanking mods).

I have never found the extra tracking on dual 150mm to make up for the loss in damage output compared to the 200mm. If you use 200mm as your baseline, a pair of heavy missile launchers (if you have reasonable missile skills), drones for the small stuff that gets in close, fat tank... should be great.

For L3 missions at long-range:
[Ferox, PvE] Power Diagnostic System II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Capacitor Flux Coil II
Large Shield Booster II Ballistic Deflection Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Cap Recharger II
200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M 200mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Torrent Assault Missile
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hobgoblin II x5
For short-range combat try:
[Ferox, PvE Short] Power Diagnostic System II Capacitor Flux Coil II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN Afterburner II Large Shield Booster II Heat Dissipation Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II
Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Torrent Assault Missile
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hobgoblin II x5
I would recommend against taking a gun-based ferox into a level 4 mission unless you're a support ship (either tank or gank) and not trying to solo the mission with it. |
