I am offering a 250 Million ISK Reward for anyone willing to build a module for Simple Machines Forum (SMF - http://www.simplemachines.org) that allows users (and has an option to force users) to input their API information. The effect of inputting their API would be to insert them into a SMF Created Group to grant them forum accesses based on what corporation they are in and whether or not they are a director of said corporation.
While my intent is to use this simply for our corporation, I can think of at least two other forums off the top of my head where such a system would be very valuable as they are an alliance and a coalition where security is an issue.
If you are willing to take this on, I suggest that you contact me either by evemail ingame - "Xornicon Altair", or by email - "neil AT teknomancer DOT com" (you should be able to figure that out).
Upon the successful completion of the first fully functional version of this mod, I will pay out 250,000,000 ISK (negotiable) to the Character of your choice. (I apologize in advance if ISK rewards are not permitted on this forum. I looked for rules and found none that said anything against them.)

i have a forum that i have made php/mysql from the ground up and i can make it customizable to anything anyone wants to use or do to it. it can be done so that users will have to put in there api and have to have a admin accept them as well. Welcome to Madam's World |

While I commend you for your effort and time, I must say that I would like to continue using SMF. It's support is widely available, and there are a great number of readily available themes and mods already available for it. Several of these are already in use by me through multiple websites.
But, don't let my stubbornness and opinions stop you! If you can make it work and it's good, then, by all means, use it! |

Razor use SMF are our base for all our web tools, I will look into making my API mod for the forums a valid package install.
Might take me a day or so.

Although a couple of people have mentioned that they might be able to do this, the reward is still up for grabs if someone can get this done!

OK, in order to get this going, I add another 250 million ISK reward to the person/group who provides a working SMF EVE API character verification/registration mod, which can be installed through SMFs mod installer and is made available to the public.
I hope, Xornicon, you're allowing me to join you with this and agree on gathering one big(ger) reward instead of a couple different, small ones.
I also encourage other SMF users, who'd like to use such a SMF mod as well, to contribute to the reward. Doing so will hopefully attract the coders out there and shows them that we appreciate and honor their time and efforts.

I'm alright with this. So, the reward has been doubled! 500 Million ISK!

So, did this happen?
I see the title is no 'reward claimed', but unless i've missed something no real mention of it being done.
I admin a SMF forum and would be interested in this mod.

Edited by: Hagen Stein on 03/12/2008 11:13:03 It is about to happen.
Xornicon and I were contacted by an individual who is now in the process of creating this mod. Specs were agreed upon, initial coding has been started and we're in the process of getting an escrow service to secure this transaction for all involved parties.
We'll update this thread as soon as we have some results (i.e. installed the mod to our forums and tested it).

The developer is still working on it. Ya know, holiday season slowed down things a bit.
We also agreed in getting things done right rather than fast.

Here's an update for those who are interested:
The mod is just about finished. Hagen and I will implement it into our respective forums and test it fully. Once we're happy that it's complete and we pay out the full reward to the man who accepted the job, we'll start discussing how to go about releasing it to the general public.
There is no concrete date set for this as of yet!

I will toss another 250 Mill for this mod, should it meet some basic requirements. Also looking to see if there is a tie in to teamspeak mysql db. |

The module has been delivered to myself and Hagen. We're doing some testing on it now. I've already encountered a couple of bugs/missing features. With any luck, these issues will be minor and we can get this out to webadmins as this seems to be a popular idea.

An additional module I would love to see would be a port over of the gteamspeak module that is availble for vbulletin to SMF. This way you can perhaps add a grant list of corps and alliances that may register. And at the same time perhaps whipe and reset simply requiring that they have a valid API key provided.

Originally by: Space Hog Edited by: Space Hog on 21/01/2009 03:49:45 Perhaps can it be listed some of the desired features that were requested. If there are others that want to contribute to have a solid mod create perhaps it will start the creative juices.
At this point, the inital dev is done. Our intent is to get it bug tested and up and fully running before we start looking into adding features.
Don't get me wrong, feature adds will definately be looked into, but, the initial mod is what we're looking for. And if we can ask for some patience as we get the testing completed, we'll post a full features list upon it's release. I might even get around to it before the full release. (I'm holding off on this now because some of the requested features are currently on the bugs list. Not all of the initially requested features are guarenteed to make it to the initial release.)
The basic version, though, is that when a user registers, he/she will be required to input their limited API. From this, their corporation, alliance, and corporation role will be pulled up and the script will place the new user into the appropriate groups based on this information. SMF already had built in the ability to add or remove permissions for specific groups, such as permissions to view specific boards that are otherwise hidden to regular users, so, we're simply automating the administration of these groups.
As for the port that you're seeking, post for that on the simple machines community and I expect someone there might be able to make that happen for you. The API part might be an issue, but, if you can get it ported from vBulletin to SMF, that's half of the job completed right there. http://www.simplemachines.org

Sounds good, I am sure you are thinking of some of the basic requirements on a alliance/corp level for requirements. I would say also keep in mind that you may want to have the ability to add certain allies rights to reg, or perhaps grant certain registrations specific access. |

The guy who's actually developing it actually came up with a very good, but simple, way of dealing with all of that. So, it's already been thought of. Thanks though!
Some bugs and kinks have been worked out. Some are ongoing. Second version is in testing now and there should be a third soon. I'll keep you posted! If all goes well, we might be able to make something usable available to all by the end of this weekend. But that's just an "if" at this point. Can't promise anything. |

At this point, I'm happy with the module and am satisfied with it's current version. I'm waiting to hear back from Hagen and Sasha before we decide that we're going to release anything. It should be very soon, as Sasha said. So, soon. |
